Got a black car in today with sever scratches.

I cleaned with Megs QD then wet sanded first with 1200 then 2000 and finished with 3000 grit.
After sanding I tried something new I've read a lot of people asking.. so here is my review on it.

On the sever scratches and surrounding area I uses D300 with a yellow ccs pad on my PC. Then I followed up with megs ultimate polish on a white pad. I left the d300 on when I applied the UP. (Someone at megs said that's fine d300 is often not wiped off before applying next step.)
So I applied UP then sprayed on Turtle wax's black spray detailer to make removal easier.. here is how the scratches turned out.

The. For the rest of the car I used an orange pad with d300 followed with a white pad wit UP before removing the d300 then removed the UP with the TW black spray detailer. Then finally topped with duragloss 111

Final result turned out to be what I consider a VERY VERY fine finish..

was the white line paint from something else ontop of the black or was the paint missing?

Nice save with those scratches. I take it that the clear was a factory clear? Did you have a paint thickness gauge to take any measurements?

Yes factory paint.. no guage or way to measure at all

Very risky practice when wet sanding and not having a paint gauge to check work.

Yea I know but I don't have one and I took it real easy I've done about 4 wet sands so far without one

Paint Gauge is not only to avoid burn, but also to make sure you leave clear for future of vehicle and UV protection.

I would maybe only spot sand with 3000.

I start with 3000 if its not enough I move up from there
