Hello, I'm Alejandro, 18 as of last month. Last year I started getting into cars and started driving my parents 2010 Ford F-150 on a regular basis, more than them I might add. I thought it would be a superb Idea to detail it. Back then I didn't even know what was a detail was however I wanted to do it. I started searching and bought a dvd made from this one chick, was not that bad and was a start. I still had way more question so I dug deeper and somehow I found this magical site and forum named Autogeek! The best site ever. And for this past months I started getting supplies, little by little as I have very tight budget. I found many great and awesome people I now call friends out there and many great reviews and topics. I give special props to some people I bugged and learned a lot from that they became a form of mentors, CeeDog, BlackCar/Boston Details and Mike Philips. I really want to thank everyone that inputs their thoughts and helpfulness out there. My Detail was far from Perfect but IMO its a great start. Lets start shall we?

This truck does see its share of uses it was meant for such as this.

The interior was not that big of a mess. LOL.

I tried my hardest to find the most economical way of cleaning, for the interior I used. A couple of microfiber cloths, these are indispensable, a couple tooth brushes, Griots'garage vinyl and rubber dressing, Megs Apc+ (product that works wonders btw), stoners invisible glass, and a shop vac, 70%Alchohol, and scots gard that was it. The apc really took care of everything door jams, console, plastic, carpets, seats, you name it. The alcohol was used to remove the sticker residue which worked well.
This is some of the after pics.

Next was the dark side.

I ended up buying Megs Ultimate Compound, and Polish because of the correlation to them being the same as M205 and M105 and I didnt have to pay extra for shipping. I used Four Star UPP as wax/sealant, for the wheels it was apc, tires apc and griots dressing were used. I bought Iron X in high hopes but damn was I disappointed, for the wheels all it did was turn some lug nuts purple and made the cement that was on the bottom purple, I then proceeded to use it on the paint same no purple or anything, i then proceeded to use baggie test and I could still feel a bunch of contaminants, good thing I still had megs claybar and qd to do the job. I also coated the windows with rain-x. This seems garbled Im sorry I tend to think in my writing without thinking this is for someone else to read. One thing that I hated about this was fords paint, its orange peely, its soft, and is thin.
Here is how it looked after compound.

Still had some swirls
After Polish:

Then After Alcohol wipe down and FourStar UPP/ End results:

Hi Alex,

It appears that you've read everything correctly and put all that knowledge into action.

Your pickup looks like many. I'm thoroughly impressed with the final results and that color is a gorgeous color to perfect leaving it wet and glossy.

Thanks for the writeup and photos! :props:

Wow!

Great intro to your thread!

Even though your parents truck is just a little over 3 years old, you still took a diamond in the rough and turned it into a glistening gemstone!

Very nice work and great pictures and write-up.

Hey,

You did a great job. My first paid detail was a F-150 also. I did mine about a month ago. Looking forward to more write-ups.

What was it about Iron X that you didn't like? Another win for UC/UP.

If you plan to trade or give samples. Check the pay it forward thread.

Great job on the truck. It looks really nice now. I didn't see it mentioned but I am guessing you did all of that by hand. If so even bigger props. Knock about 35 years off my age and I could do that too. LOL

JSou, Iron X. Well like I said it didn't work for me, I don't know why maybe my truck was not in that bad condition either way it did not do anything to help out, im not saying it is a bad product if maybe you have very dirty pain/wheels.
