I just purchased a new car, and just posted a much longer thread (with no replies yet! Help!). As I'm shopping on AG, I'm thinking about 2 things I never did on my old car: Apply some sealant/wax to the wheels, and to the glass.

The only protection products I have at home now are Megs #20 sealant, and poorboys natty blue liquid wax.

I'd rather not buy a dedicated sealant for each of these because it just seems wasteful.

Would you apply Megs #20 to either your glass, or to your wheels? (The wheels are OEM clear-coated 20" alloys)

Similarly, I use Stoner aersol right now. Anything better out there?

M20 would work well on wheels IMO. Probably better than some of the "wheel" sealants out there. I've used paint sealant on glass before but I like Aquapel better. Or you could try the new Opti-Glass.

Thanks man!
I had a feeling the mild cleaning agent in #20 would work well for the wheels but I'm very conservative about trying new things :)

A lot of sealants are silicone heavy so will work to a fashion on glass but will tend to have limited durability and can give a higher risk of wiper judder than a glass sealant which bonds properly.

Go with gtechniq g1 on the glass. You won't be disappointed and the small size will work for a single car

Blackfire Crystal Seal works awesome on class. I always seal the glass then apply RainX. Works great!

Collinite 845 for wheels.
RainX for windshield.

Beast mode:
Opti-coat wheels and opti-glass windshield.

I really like BF Crystal seal and CarPro Reload for total car coverage. I give the advantage to Reload to last longer then Crystal seal though

I'd use the Meg's sealant on the windows, don't know about Natty's too much but nuba's sometime smear on glass, so like I said I'd stick with a sealant there. Now for wheels, either one would be fine there IMHO.

Congrats on the new ride, what is it?

Everybody, thanks for the tips! I'll file away the BF Crystal Seal. I want to avoid buying new product for this job if possible since, as a hobbyist with just a single car in the family that gets about 5k miles/year (living in SF), I already have several huge bottles of product with only tiny amounts used.

I'll def apply the M20 to the wheels. Anybody used the Griots glass sealant? Again I'll probably end up using what I currently have but the Griots stuff is relatively inexpensive and I'm a little nervous about the wipers chattering/etc if using a paint product on the glass. Seems my fear there is unfounded?

Oh and Klass, it's a beautiful white '13 Mercedes GLK.
