Wash Mitt containg acrylic safe for paint?

Hey guys,

I have a vast assortment of wash mitts including Carpro Wool mitts, Meguiars and 1z Einszett microfiber mitts and Cobra micro-chenille mitts.

Before I got into detailing I detailed all of my familys cars with one mitt. It has never been washed and has probably seen a good hundered or so wash sessions over 10 or so years!! I found it the other day and decided to "Save" it.

I put it though the washer with Blackfire Microfiber Cleaner & Restorer and afterwards spent about 2 hours picking ever last bit of contamination out of in-between the fibers. It is completely clean now. (No stains, no contaminents)

I was thinking of using it on cars I work on that have not been corrected yet.

The inside tag says 90% Polyester/ 10% Acrylic.

I have never used a mitt that has this acrylic fabric. The mitt actually seem high quality and very soft and plush.

Would you guys consider it paint safe for some of your "Lower end" details?

If you have a "vast assortment" of mitts, throw that thing away--or use it for wheel wells. I wouldn't use that on paint if I had an option...and I think I threw away the ones I had like that.

I use one exactly like that for my wheel wells. It does a great job for that. Mine doesn't feel soft enough for me to comfortably use on bodywork. If you don't want to use your high end mitts on others cars you could consider a micro chenille from Advance or the like.

microfiber wash-mitt/towel that would labeled as being "90/10":
Is Orlon softer than Nylon? More absorbant?

It's quite possible, (if not exercising extreme care):
Using this wash-mitt you will increase your 'correction needs'.

Ok thats kinda the answer I expected. I may use it for wheel wells only as mentioned. Or just retire it.

The exact reason I use micro chenille s is because they are cheap an they work phenomenal. They come in colors also. I use gold for upper body panels and purple for lower. I usually keep mine for a couple of months and toss em. At 10 bucks a piece it's worth to toss em.

I have two of those micro chenilles (The purple and gold as well). You are right they are a nice mitt. I did not buy the dark colored one for fear that I could not see if there were any contaminents lodged in there after I wash it. They would blend in with the black.

Micro-Chenille Wash Mitts sold by AGO are made-up of at least:
"80/20"...(polyester/polyamide)...micro-fibers?

It'd be nice to have a few: "70/30's".
