Picking out pads and polishes and matching them together is really confusing. I am in the process of picking up new pads myself. I'll probably just get the lc flat pads. The ccs pads were just ok. Megs mf pads are really great for cutting deep scratches especially on hard paint.

I most use MF pads and only use foam pads to finish with. MF pads cut fast and easier to clean.

Yes there is. Every brand has its pros/cons, LC HydroTech pads seem to be a solid pad to work with.

Hydro techs are great pads very smooth. They do lack in cutting and get heavily water logged if using a pad cleaning system.

Mike Phillips book does a good job of explaining all of the differences and can help guide you.

1. You want to use the flattest ones with a DA. Keep the flat pad is key with a DA so you want all the surface of the pad to touch the paint.

2. You want to use the fancy waffle design with powerful forced rotation machine like a rotary or flex da, the uneven surface when touching the paint creates room for air, reduces heat and thus less pad skipping/hopping with a rotary allowing you to work longer.
