We just picked up a new fridge and stove. They both have stainless steel parts. I was thinking of picking up some metal polish to use on the stainless steel appliance.

Anyone else here ever done that and what products do you guys use to polish and protect it?

Can you out wax on stainless steel?

A lot of SS appliances appear to be clearcoated. At least mine are. I just treat them as 'regular painted' objects.

The stainless probably has a brushed finish. Brushed finishes hide a lot of waviness in the metal. It might look perfectly formed with a brushed finish, but if you polished it to a mirror, you would likely see lots of imperfections in it.
You can clean them like any painted item, and use wax or sealant on them to make them a little easier to clean. I would consider Opti Seal because it is crystal clear and leaves behind no residue to buff off. That way, your stainless will be sparkling without any excess left behind that may or may not come out of the brushed finish as easily as you would like.

Just use this stuff:

Amazon.com: Sprayway Stainless Steel Cleaner - 2/15oz can: Home & Kitchen (http://www.amazon.com/Sprayway-Stainless-Steel-Cleaner-15oz/dp/B0049IIEPM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362355832&sr=8-1&keywords=SPRAYWAY+STAINLESS+STEEL)

I used to hand polish my stainless stuff, but they'd just stain horribly from normal use. It was a lot of work and took forever too. The Sprayway stuff does an amazing job. It cleans the stains and protects it for months. I see Sprayway makes some auto detailing stuff that's being sold here at AutoGeek. I'll be picking it up!

P.S. Their foam spray glass cleaner is great too.

I have appliance stainless polish on hand but 95% of the time I use Megs APC diluted 15:1 and a microfiber towel to clean hand prints and grime off the appliances. Works great. This same mixture works great on the glass of my induction cooktop.

Just bumping this,

Wanted to know what type of wax should I be using for this application? I know collinite actually has a product, the 870 wax, I have 845, I have UPP, lots of carnauba and Klasse SG, is there anything that applies really well to stainless steel appliances?
