Hello Autogeekers! I've already learned a ton from so many of you just by lurking on the forums for this past month, so I feel like it's way past time for me to introduce myself and share the story of why I joined the forum. I recently bought an old, bright red BMW Z3 in great condition. This is my first convertible so I didn't have the first clue on how to care for it. As I was researching convertible top care, I came to realize that auto detailing in general is a whole different world from even just 5-10 years ago. The products available now are so far advanced from what I was used to I could barely believe it. I had always stayed away from things like polishes and compounds because in the past they seemed to do more damage than good. I had no idea that you could wash a car without water (it would have helped a lot if this tech existed when I was in college). I just assumed that swirls were the way paint was supposed to look after a while. I never realized that the vast majority of car washes can do a lot more harm than good. I've always washed and waxed my own car, but my research into caring for my Z3 made me realize I could (and should) do so much more and better.

Lucky for me I live less than 20 minutes away from Meguiar's headquarters in Southern California. When I saw on their website that they offer free detailing classes, I signed up right away. I had such a great experience and so much fun (thanks Mike Stoops, if you read this) that now I'm hooked. I bought a DA polisher and placed a couple orders with Autogeek already. Another major detailing store is just down the street from me, and I find myself dropping in all the time to check out different products. I'm planning on swinging by the Chemical Guys' showroom in LA this weekend. All in all, I think I'm in trouble.

As soon as my last order with Autogeek gets here, I'll be doing a correction on my car. I'll try to keep you guys updated.

Thanks to everyone who's contributed to these forums—you've already helped me out immensely by asking your questions and sharing your wisdom. I look forward to more to come.

Regards,
Brian
