Detailing Bootcamp Success Story! (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/60986-detailing-bootcamp-success-story.html)

I want to tell you about a boot camp success story.

I took Mikes boot camp class about a yr ago. My name is Jeff and I have a Motorcycle Detail business here in Miami. After the class I was confident to attack any job thrown at me, and I was going to have a chance to prove it, and that's what this story is about.

About a Month ago i get a call from a guy telling me his boss is doing a photo shoot of some of his toys and come and detail 6 Harley s and a Boss Hoss. When I get there I see hes has a Lamborghini there a Vet, an old Fleet wood a Benz.

So i did all the bikes, and I see them setting up the photo shoot for the next day with all the lights on this white background and mat on the floor. I walked over to the cars to take a look at them, and they were a mess spider web swirl marks. I called the guy there who seemed to be in charge and showed him, and told him how those lights would pick it up especially with the cameras they were using, he seemed to shrug it off.

The next day at 630 in the morning he calls me and asks me to please come down there and detail the cars. I have to admit I was nervous when I started the Lamborghini, but I had the skills that I was taught in the class and I had done quite a few already with great success, so whats the problem LOL.

Well after I made the first pass on the hood and seen the results man I was cooking. When I was done he started asking me questions like whats my income annually, and he started telling me about the company. That a Doctor owned it, and they were in every state in the USA, and all there workers get full benefits that are free for me and 100$ for ea family member.

I asked him your going to pay me big money just to take care of this, he told me Oh no this is just a small part of what he owns Ill be very busy, then he told me the person thats worked the longest for the company is the detailer in Texas. He's been there 20 Yrs.

Well to make a long story short we came up with a figure thats very nice, my wife if wanted to could quit her job, but don't worry she ain't LOL.

Is all I can say if I didn't take mikes class this life changing experience would never have happened.

Thanks Mike and everyone at auto geek. I don't care how many you tube videos you watch you cant teach yourself this stuff take the class you'll love it,

Thanks Jeff in Miami.

Great success story, Jeff. Thanks for sharing. I'm real happy for ya'.

I took the liberty to link your original post, from Mr. Phillips's boot camp thread, to this thread so that people will find this thread into the future. When someone comes across Mike's thread the link will guide them here where they can comment if they would like.

Glad you started a new thread, as this story deserves its own attention.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for taking the time to share your success story on our forum. I very specifically remember you from both classes you attended. You were completely engaged and asking lots of questions and that always shows me someone that's learning and truly passionate about the art and craft of detailing cars.

Opportunity came knocking and you were prepared to open the door and walk right through. As far as the detailing world goes, this truly does sound like a dream job because you're going to get to work on cool cars, not just transportation vehicles and it sounds like you've earned the owner's and the owner's manager's respect and trust and that's the hardest hurdle for most people to jump over when it comes to working on what I call SIV's or Special Interest Vehicles.

My definition of luck goes like this...

Preparedness meets opportunity

And you are lucky...

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope to see you again at Detail Fest to shake your hand personally.
