Sign-up: Ford Excursion Extreme Makeover! - March 7th (http://www.autogeekonline.net/gallery/data/1765/Mudjam.jpg)

Canceled

March 7th

This is my buddy Jim's custom Ford Excursion 4x4 that's heading to the Saint Lucie Mudjam (http://saintluciemudjam.com/) on March 1st, 2, and 3rd. My other buddy Matt Steele will be there filming a new episode for Trucks Gone Wild and Matt will also be here for Detail Fest.

Anyway, something in the mud from the last mud fest Jim went to stained his brand new clearcoat finish paint job. He tried compounding it and says he improved it but it's still visible. I told him it would be a waste of time to buff out his truck BEFORE the Mudfest but if he washes all the mud off real good we could take a crack at it after the Mudfest.

So Jim and his truck will be here on Thursday, March 7th starting at 5:00pm and I'm going to need some help getting his truck compounded and polished and hopefully we can remove what's left of the staining and any other damage the paint incurs at the Mudfest.

Here's his truck...

Going to have to miss this one as the old lady is working that night. I have one of those Werner work platforms I could have brought to help out, oh well I guess there is next time.

I would use the platform just for the sides, not the top. They are going to have there work cut out for them doing the top of that beast.

We have a number of ways to tackle this project...

First, a trip down memory lane....

Behold Behemoth! - Cleaned & Sealed with DP Poli-Coat (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/dp/25247-behold-behemoth-cleaned-sealed-dp-poli-coat.html)

Washing, claying and waxing a truck this size is a little more difficult than a normal car, truck or s.u.v., luckily we have the right tools to do the job safely.

After washing, I drove the Behemoth into the studio where I can dry it with some waffle weave drying towels and then inspect the paint for above surface bonded contaminants.

And we have a few JLG lifts...

Colin, PBMG's warehouse manager and Travis were first to take the JLG stock pickers for a test drive.

It was a race to the top!

Colin was in the lead and still had another five or six feet before reaching the maximum working height of 21 feet!

No extreme makeover project cars to do on Feb 28? Just got the itch, if you know what I mean and the old lady is off.

Hey Chris, I`m telling your WIFE you call her old.Mike, Louie and I will be there.Since Louie is a retired Fire-Fighter he has no problem climbing ladders.

I wish Mike was doing one this Thursday, cause she is off , going to have to miss the one on the 7th, due to the fact she is working. I call her old lady and she knows it, but she is far from old. Sucks to, cause I like coming down, the drive doesn't really bother me.

***Canceled***

Due to schedule conflicts we're going to cancel this project until after Detail Fest. I'm just getting over Laryngitis and since just returning to work today the rest of the week is very compressed time-wise.

I spoke with the owner Jim yesterday and he says no problem, he and his Ford Excursion will be ready when we are...

Hi Tim,

Louie called me last night, he noticed I haven't been posting to the forum for a few days so he figured something was amis...

I let him know that this project was canceled and to be rescheduled sometime after Detail Fest in April.
