What to use to refinish wheel wells?

What are you detailers using to refinish the rear wheel wells on cars? Paint or a rubberized undercoating. Mine is dull now after 7 years and just cleaned it with some degreaser. Thanks in advance

Depends on the look you want. Quite often I just use 303 aerospace, few sprays and I leave it. If you want a little more restoration. Back to black or something with higher silicone will bring back a dark look and keep it for a bit!

Opti-bond mixed 50/50 for hard to reach areas, and areas you can reach with an applicator use it undiluted. 303 is go as well but may not past as long. I have used GG undercarriage spray but it can turnout steaky if surface is not really clean; and it smells like it is just an oil based spray. WD40 is actually a really good, cheap option and works as well if not better than products "designed" for this purpose. It also has a more pleasant smell than GGUCS, and last as long or longer; and it won't damage the paint. Plus wd40 is a multipurpose/purposeful product; will treat/prevent corrosion, lube chassis components, and darken the wells/undercarriage(black painted components, plastic, and rubber). Also helps keep it cleaner and easy to just wipe clean; does attract dust/dirt but, probably no worse than a silicon based product. Didn't mean to rant about wd40 but I didn't realize how well it performs/I like it until writing this.LOL
Try a few and see which works best for you. Either way it wont be a waste of money to have both Opti-Bond, 303AP, and wd40 on hand.

On plastic wells, I have been using a trim dressing like Poorboy's Trim Restorer or Ultima. It seems to stay darker longer. It is not sticky like some wetter type dressings (like CG Bare Bones).

Ive tried 303 as well. But its too expensive to waste hald a bottole on the wells. This client llives in an area where their are many dirt roads. WD40 might hold on to the dust.

Bare Bones is not sticky once dried. Maybe your using too much product.

Another vote for WD40. I'm sure some buzzkill will come along with an MSDS and say why you shouldn't use it, but who cares. It works and also loosens tar and such that's been flung up from the road. :xyxthumbs:

Edit: Just to add I treat with WD40 before washing. Then give it a nice blast from the pressure washer or whatever you're using during the wash and it usually leaves just enough to look good and not be enough that everything sticks to it.
