Sorry if this has been covered already I tried searching but couldn't find what I was looking for. I never mask but I bet it would be a lot easier to avoid splatter then to have to go back and clean it later. Can someone please guide me to the right thread or tell me how to properly mask the car and what exactly should I be masking thank you!!!!!

Here's to get an idea, and I STILL have to tape around door handles, any trim or edges.

So you tape between door gaps and actually mask part of the paint, I'm.confused

Kind of depends on the polisher you plan to use. With DA's I rarelt mask unless there is something that really needs my attention. Work the polish down before you go over a gap and no polish will go in the gap to be cleaned out later. So basically never start on or near a gap.

With a RB it's alittle different more prep time is needed. Still if your careful you'll minimize product sling. Same holds true id you work down the compound/polish it will not wind up in a panel gap.

Yes if you tape run the tape down the center of the gap so the tape fills the gap. For body lines run an 1/8th or 1/4 piece of tape right down the center of the raised panel line so you don't spend too much time on top of the raised line. Paint is usually thinner on these high areas.

Does that help?

I use a da. Here's my car before polish. Maybe overkill but I'm still green so I wanted to be safe and clean:xyxthumbs:

Not a green move at all. Good job on taping everything.

I agree. I usually just tape off emblems & trim. When in doubt, tape it off anyway.
