I saw this on my favorite car site and wondered if it had any applications in car detailing?

I have never seen anything repel water like this stuff.

It's called UltraEverDry

Here is a YouTube demo

It is used in oilfields and oil spills.

Just been posted http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/60408-ultra-ever-dry.html

And according to the manufacturer, abrasion and all purpose cleaners remove it, so not for me :)

Sounds like the fine print would, at least currently, preclude this type of technology from being used in the auto industry. In the following clip it is explained that high pressure water or Simple Green will compromise the coating.

Cool stuff though, for sure!! Future, here we come!! :)
