The lighting in my garage is awful. It is a 2 car garage and has very high ceilings. I want to say they are 10-12 feet high. There are 2 dome lights, one on each side of the garage with a standard bulb. I park on the side where there are 2 windows with blinds that I can use as extra light, but it still is not enough. I was looking at these: 4 Light Heavy Duty Shoplight-1284GRD RE at The Home Depot (http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-25ecodZ5yc1v/R-202968125/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=t8&storeId=10051#.UQ7ov458s3Fand) thinking about buying 2 just to hang in line with each other on the side I park my car and plug them into the outlet on the ceiling. Then I need one of those 2 halogen work lights on a stand. Which ones are the best? What do you think of my plan? Any other ideas or suggestions?

I think those will make a huge difference. :props:

I'm in the same boat and have been looking at the T8 units and they appear to throw quite a bit more light than comparable T12's.....

Only things is, I don't feel confident in myself to install them myself and have them hanging by chain above my car:dunno:

T8's are great lights and husky make a double tripod light, that's also awesome. It looks like the sun is in my garage when their all on. The husky lights throw off some heat and get very hot to the touch, but if you have to live up north, then the heat should be a welcome thing lol.

Are you afraid they'll fall?

The chains are very strong and can probably support over 100 pounds indefinitely which is far great than the weight of these lights...

Not the fact on them breaking the chain, but something happening causing the chain to slip off whatever its held on by

I understand where you're coming from...Their design is meant to be safely hung. If you use a heavy duty screw hook and screw it into a ceiling joist you'll be just fine....

I have lights like that I added from HD, except mine hold 2 bulbs a strip. The 2 bulb strips are as cheap as $10 from Walmart (w/o) bulbs. In my single car garage I added a total of 8 bulbs with hanging strip lights. It's fairly bright. It really makes a huge difference. In a 2 car garage I would add 3 strips of two on each side if you want it fairly bright.

Halogens stands help with vertical panels but are hot, awkward, and bulbs burn out a lot.

Here are some pics of my setup

How are yours wired? Are they plugged into an outlet and controlled by a pull string?

Thank you :)

What kind of bulbs do you use? Also is it tight to work on the sides of the car in the garage , just curious. Goog looking setup though
