So last week my bike rack fell on my daily driver, smashing the windshield and denting the hood.
I got the windshield fixed and took it to a bodyshop. The estimator was looking it over, seeing if he could fix the hood or if they needed to order a replacement.
At one point he stops and says, "This hood has been repainted."
I told him I bought the car new and hadnt had any work done on it.
He says, "The finish is too clear for OEM, its like a mirror.", to which I LOL'd.
My paint isnt perfect, but the hood is as close as I can get. Ive spent the most time on it getting it corrected and getting a lot of gloss out of it, I guess it shows.
Turns out the hood needs to be replaced, so they will spray it and blend with the front fenders and bumpers. He says it will look 'better than new' but my guess is I will be buffing out swirls and sanding marks in the near future.
