With something like m205 or Sf4500. White, gray, or what? Or does it matter?

Really depends on what I'm working on.........LC hydrotech crimmson foam pads....or MF pads(sometimes I quit at cutting and then sometimes I use polishing pads)

Kinda of like candy bars......Sometimes you feel like a Nut sometimes you don"t!

Do you only use Meguiars pads? I'm not all that familiar with them except for there microfiber ones I use. Aren't there foamies considered 7in. Please school me of I'm wrong lol. I've actually been wanting to try some megs pads.

I prefer Meguiar's pads when doing medium to light correction. The W8006's are 6.5", if you have a GG6 or better, you wont have a problem. I use LC gray pads for applying sealants & glazes.

Meg's W9006 are their ultra soft 6.5 pads for applying waxes & sealants. I use their MF discs for heavy compounding when needed. Youll see me recommend white LC pads because everyone tends to have them, but personally I do detailing as a hobby & part time business. I need a better cut, better finish, durability & IMO the Megs professional W8006 pads deliver just that.

How are those 7" pads on the DA? Ive been wanting to switch to those...they just seem a little too big. Whats your experience with them Marc?

I think that the problem with the 6.5" pads being too big only applied in the old PC7424 and maybe the PC7424XP. If you have a GG6 or a G110v2, you shouldn't have a problem because those 2 machines have a very powerful and capable motor. I don't think I would have a problem using the 6.5" with those machines if I didn't have a choice.

Another problem is that the height of the 6.5" inches is a lot higher than the 5.5" pads. The increased volume of the pad requires the machine more power to move the pad. From this thread (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/how-articles/27166-how-maximize-your-da-polisher.html), the 5.5" LC flat pads measure 7/8" high. I think the 6.5" LC flat pads would measure 1 1/4" high (not in that thread).

Per that argument, you would think that the 7" Softbuff 2.0 pads from Meguiar's would even require more power than the 6.5" LC pads based solely on the pad diameter. But IMO, this is a flawed argument. When you look at the Softbuff 2.0 pads, the center of the pad is recessed to allow the W68DA backing plate to self-center. Only the outer 0.5" of the pad has full height. Everything else has half (approximately) the thickness of the foam pad. This IMO has less the volume of the 6.5" pad therefore making it easier to move and rotate from the DA.

I've done a lot of correction using the W8207 Softbuff 2.0 polishing pad with either M105, Ultimate Compound or M205 without any problems. If the DA wasn't rotating the pad enough then I wouldn't be achieving the results I've been getting when I used them with my G110v2.

Just my $0.02.

Thats some very interesting points Marc. That, and the fact that I would need that 68 backing plate :/.

For smaller panels, im using Meg's 4" pads with a 3.5" LC plate. What are you running?

In addition, the quality of the Meguiar's Softbuff 2.0 pads just flat out ROCKS!!!!

Like my bigger pads, I use both LC and Meg's 4" pads but I really prefer the Meg's in this size too. I think the 3" LC or 3" Meg's BP will fit the Meg's 4" pads better than the 3.5" BP.

I would really like to see a 5.5 inch pad from Meguiar's.

I think that after running Meguiar's mf system on the G110v2 and then going to say M205 on the W9207 is a bit disheartening to have gotten used to the 5 inch mf pad but now going to a big 7 inch pad really, well just kinda sucks. Thats when I pull out my 5.5 hydrotechs.

Yeah, I've used the Softbuff 2.0 pads with the 3401. When I did the M5, I was using that combo.
