Did a 05 black IS300 today. It is my owned by a friend of my gf. The car only had 17K miles but as we all know, that's meaningless haha. It was trashed as the before pics show. I didn't even realize it was a single stage black until I buffed my 1st panel. Ugh, what a pita! I had to use (3) 4" edge 2k pads, both sides...twice! So 12 pads equivalent. :( Had to stop and clean them mid detail, which was fine, because that's when I started the interior, which was also dusty and dirty with scuffs everywhere. No terrible stains though, so only the floor mats needed shampooing.

Process:

Wash with CG's Citrus Wash N' Gloss (thanks orangez!) an ounce to 2 gallons...strong

Wheels, tires, wheel wells cleaned with Amazing Roll Off and Oxo wash brush....I find the tire brush too harsh. Also used a cheapie long handle brush for the wheel wells.

Dry with Cobra Ultimate Guzzler

Tires/wheel wells dressed with Optimum Tire Shine

Interior cleaned/protected with Optimum Protectant Plus and Turtle Wax leather care

Glass cleaned with Sonus glass towel and Stoner IG

Door jams wiped and exterior windows wiped with Clearkote quik shine...love the stuff! :D

USED TWO CLAY BARS!!! THIS CAR WAS LIKE SANDPAPER! (of note, the gray clay magic bars suck compared the white four star ones, 3-4 wipes of the fours star and all the grit was gone. The clay magic didn't remove all of it even with multiple hard passes to the point that I was marring the finish.

Polishing with PC 7424 and 4" Edge 2K pads, green (yep, I buffed the entire car with 4" pads, I love them!)

This customer only wanted to pay for a one step, so I used my classic one step product, Optimum Polish. This combined with the somewhat firm green edge 2K pads, took out the worst part of the marring, but in no way did it take it all out.

Wiped off both clay residue and polish residue with Cobra MP blue MF towels.

Waxed with my fav for black paint, Clearkote Carnauba moose wax and a white edge 2K 4" pad.

Removed CMW with Sonus yellow buffing towels

For a one step, I like the results.

After Pics

Sorry, there aren't any close ups, I was really behind on time, so I didn't take many, and the ones I took were blurry, also I only wiped down the engine, he didn't pay for a degrease and protect, so no pics of that either.

Oh, and the driver's side floor mat had already been stepped on for that crappy interior pic, I took it right before he drove off hehe.

You did an outstanding job. One thing that concerns me, is why Toyota still does single stage paints? Saving money? I really don't see any benefit in single stage paints. Kinda scares the heck out of me.

Awsome job on the lexus. Did you take any after pics of the engine bay.
I don't understand why LEXUS does a single stage on there black vehicles. Some on another forum think they have tinted clear http://www.peachstateposse.com/forum/images/smiles/smilielol.gifhttp://www.peachstateposse.com/forum/images/smiles/smilielol.gif. Because they rubbed off too much paint:D

Thanks guys, I appreciate it! No pics of the engine, because he didn't pay for me to detail it, I just wiped it down and all the channels, looked 10X better, just not pic worthy lol.

You got me on the single stage on a Lexus, but me and my Edge pads don't like it one bit lol! That and I went though like a 1/2 bottle of Dawn power dissolver cleaning them.

Thanks. :)

At least the single stage lacks orange peel, lol. The paint was amazingly clear in the after pics.
