White specks on red paint

I am in the process of correcting the paint of my wife's red pathfinder. The hood has quite a few chips from road debris and flying pebbles. I'm using Megs 105 (and you know how that stuff powders). I am getting white specks where the chips are on the hood from the megs filling in the chips. How do I restore the darker color in the chips w/out having to use dr. chip? Maybe a dark color wax? LOL.
