A fellow VW Club member and family friend (Dupz 55) recently purchased this Citi Rox as a run around to prevent excessive mileage on his '6'. It was dropped off on Friday evening for a basic detail.

Upon arrival the vehicle was covered in surface dirt and as can be seen in some of these pics, was littered in swirl marks and RIDS.

I was asked to remove the various .:R badges from the car (1 under each side marker and 1 on the boot).

The badge was removed leaving behind this sticky mess, to which I applied some AutoFinesse OblTARate and allowed it to dwell for a while before removing the remainder of the residue.

So at 07:00 on Saturday morning I then got stuck into the wheels (which were to remain on the vehicle for cleaning). Products used were Cyclo CM30, Autofinesse Imperial Wheel Cleaner, Autofinesse ObliTARate and a host of brushes

Once the wheels has been cleaned and rinsed I set about cleaning all those hard to reach areas where dirt builds up, such as around door handles, badges, emblems, door jambs, boot jambs, seams, window rubbers etc using Cyclo CM30.

The vehicle was then snow foamed using Chemical Guys Maxi Suds and washed using the 2BM with Cyclo Hand Wash

A full iron decontamination using Iron-x was conducted (no pics as it is difficult to capture the bleeding effect on black paint) and all the tar was removed using Autglym Intensive Tar Remover.
I then commenced with claying. I had just received some new stock and decided to try out the Autofinesse Brand of Clay - as you can see it is nicely packaged and the plastic wrapping allowed me to re-wrap the bar after I had 'broken off' a suitable size piece for claying

After some while claying I decided to try an more aggressive clay to see if it would deliver better results - claying with fine grade clay on this vehicle was proving to be tough (and I did try another brand of fine clay to confirm it was not the new Autofinesse Clay, which it wasn't) - and so I whipped out the Clay Magic Purple Clay to do a test spot. Contaminants were removed a lot quicker however the clay left behind its own marring on the paint - if you look at the pic below, you will see the marring on the right hand side of the light source.
http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/dd393/polo_playa/Detailing%20-%20Brad%20Citi%20Rox/IMG_2130_zpsc6ebbcd4.jpg

Now this in itself is not a major concern IF you are doing a follow up polish as the marring will be removed during the polishing process, however I decided to switch back to the fine grade clay and continue as normal. So for anyone thinking of purchasing medium grade clay, expect similar marring, especially on softer paint systems. So the remainder of Saturday was spent claying until some friends and family rocked up and I called it a day around 15:00

I was able to snap some pics of the now contaminant free paint to show its actual condition

After a nice breakfast and coffee on Sunday morning I performed a few test spots to dial in the right combo of pad/polish/technique and got cracking with the paint correction. Menzerna FG400 on a Orange LC CCS Pad followed by Menzerna SF4000 on a LC Green polishing pad. Not many pics were snapped along the way but I did managed to get this nice comparison showing the bootlid
Before - notice the swirl marks, the deep scratch running up diagonally from left to right (on the left of the light source), and general 'flatness' of the paint
http://i1217.photobucket.com/albums/dd393/polo_playa/Detailing%20-%20Brad%20Citi%20Rox/IMG_2150_zps73f6f857.jpg

After - Swirls removed leaving only the deeper scratch, and the paint is coming to life - notice the flakes in the paint are now visible.

Once all the paint correction had been completed the car was pulled out for another wash to remove the polishing dust and residue. This was done by snowfoaming the car twice and then washing very gently using the 2BM.

Interior vacuum
Dash cleaned and treated with Meguiars Ultimate Protectant
Windows cleaned using Autoglym Fast Glass
Front windscreen polished using Autoglym Glass Polish and C-Thur applied
Rims waxed using Smartwax Rim Wax
Tires dressed using Smartwax Smart Dressing
Door jambs/boot jamb waxed using Meguiars Cleaner Wax.
Wheel arches dressing with Chemical Guys Bare Bones
Exterior Plastic trim treated with Meguiars Ultimate Protectant

I then laid down a coat of Chemical Guys Blacklight followed by 2 coats of V7. This was then followed by a coat of Collinite 845.

Onto the after pics
