First time ever waxing with DA. I thought I was using a small amount of liquid Pinnacle Souvreign. (This was a new bottle of the old version from holiday sales). Started to squeeze out the pad and TONS of wax came out.

Did I use too much product or is this normal? Thanks!

If your pad isnt primed, then use some of that to prime it, then add a couple of dime size dots to the pad. If you already primed, yes you have to much on their.

yes this happens when you use open cell structure pad. you need to try the red pad as this is what lc recomends when using liquid wax

Gotcha. Dime sized. Forgot about that. How much area will that cover? The typical 2'x2' square. Maybe I should watch a video again.

So will this happen on all open cell pads regardless of pad/product combination...Thanks for helping a noob.

Honestly, with LS or BFWD, anything like that, a dime size drop will get me way more than a 2x2 area. Thin is in!:dblthumb2:

And yeah, that much coming out of the pads looks like a lot, how much do you think you used? With most sealants or liquid waxes, most folks can use .5oz and do an entire car!

If that is a Lake Country finishing foam pad; you chose the right pad but simply used too much product. When you initially start off with a new pad you will prime the pad and use pea-sized dots. Eventually, the pad will absorb enough of that product such that the amount of product you add in future passes will decrease.

With a DA, as long as you are leaving a consistent haze on the paint surface you have enough product on/in the pad.

I use the same exact pad as you did when I apply liquid wax by machine. I have no problem with it saturating like that. Most likely too much product. Even though the 5.5" LC flat pads are open cell structure most of product stays on the face.

I've used black pads for sealants and waxes with no issues, fwiw:dblthumb2:
