Over the weekend I got some new wheels. Niche Circuit wheels matte black and machine finish face.

What coating would be the best option for these.

Opti Coat?
Gteching wheel Armor?
Blackfire CrystaSeal?

Will I still want the matte look without any gloss

Thanks in advance

Do you use any wheel cleaner on them when washing?

I plan to use CarPro's CQuartz DLux for my new 2013 Audi Q5. It seems to have very good reviews here in AG.

Only reason I ask is because if you're planning on using a wheel cleaner product / APC, any coating you put on them is going to be stripped pretty quickly. I'd recommend that you treat the wheels like paint if you end up coating them!

How soon anything is removed will depend a lot on what's used and how strong it is...

For example, one of the characteristics of the Gtechniq is it's repellency of dirt and water and hopefully brake dust and road grime. If this is the case then a product like Gwash could be used and this should be very non-invasive way to clean this particular brand of coating.

I've had the Meguiar's on my fiancé's factory clear coated wheels since last summer and most of the brake dust and road grime have been washing off with just car wash shampoo and Detailer's Wheel Cleaner on the front for the harder to reach pockets in the wheel design.

I coated these wheels with Meguiar's Hot Rims Brake Dust Barrier (http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-brake-dust-barrier.html) back in January and it seems to be doing a good job of preventing brake dust and road grime from accumulating on the wheel.

The only car I've used it on was this high voltage yellow Scion...

Here's the info from the AG webpage on this product, I can contact Rob at Gtechniq and ask him too...

Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armor forms an outer shield over wheels, making them dirt and brake dust repellent as well as being much easier to clean. Independently proven to outlast other rim coatings, Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armor uses a unique chemical bond to become the functional surface of your rims a single application lasts up to one year.

Brake dust is detrimental to wheels. It heats up and penetrates the wheel finish, causing pitting and stains. Wheel protection is vital to maintaining the beauty of wheels.

Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armor provides an incredibly durable, long-lasting coating that blocks out all contamination. Wheels coated with C5 are simple to clean and they tend to stay cleaner on their own. Car shampoo or a non-acidic degreaser is all you need for regular wheel cleaning.

Directions:
Do not dilute. Apply at a temperature above 41°F (5°C) and out of direct sunlight. If you are applying indoors, ensure that there is adequate ventilation and wear protective gloves. Ensure that the surface to be coated is entirely free from fats/oils or previously applied products. We recommend cleaning trim vigorously with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) prior to application.

Use lint-free applicator pads to spread on Wheel Armor. Because the coating forms its bond immediately, it is very important you remove excess coating from the treated surface and any that has gone onto your car’s bodywork or glass as soon as possible. To remove residue, you should use a microfiber cloth and use a light touch, i.e. not like buffing a wax but more like using a chamois on your car. Avoid using acidic wheel cleaners.

My guess is yes.

Yes, it's perfectly fine on both the matte and machined finishes. I don't really use the consumer version (OC 2.0) but it should still work just as well...maybe apply two coats though. It's impervious to cleaners unlike so of the other coatings and it's my go to product for wheels. Note: It will give matte paint a very subtle "darkening effect"....not glossy though.

I'll often apply it with an air brush or mini HLVP gun on intricate wheels.
