Products for black trim on exterior

Looking to see if any one has any suggestions on products they have used and that work on restoring the black faded trim on the exterior of cars. Need something to rejuvenate and protect and bring the dark black rich color back to life. Any help would grateful , also how long they last after the application before you have to reapply.

CG VRP:
1) on a daily driver 2012 Frontier that lives outside 4-6 weeks.
2) on my wife's daily driver 1998 Civic, garage queen about 8weeks. It looks great on all surfaces except Civic front grill and only looks OK there.

For a cheaper but still very good option :
Ultima Tire and Trim Guard. It doesn't last as long but it goes a long way.

:iagree:UTTG will give you a solid 6 mos. if you prep the surface properly.

I have been using UTTG and reapply every 2 to 3 months. Is it still protecting when I reapply ? Probabaly but I am not taking any chances as once you start seeing the fading it is to late. As already stated UTTG goes a very long way. I thought the price was pretty high when I bought it about 18 months ago but with 3 vehicles to maintain I still have at least 3/4 of a bottle left. I do not use it on tires as I imagine it would go pretty fast. For the tires I have been using Perl reduced 1:1 and applied with a spray gun.

I have used UTTG in the past but it would get water spots on the trim below my side glass. I have used carpro delux the last two times and like it better so far.

I believe the answer to this question will depend upon your climate. If you live in a very wet climate, the answer will be different to if you live in super dry arizona.

Yes.

So far it has lasted about seven months, and that is on a car parked outside.

Yes. A couple things:

1. It does not work very well on smooth plastics
2. On textured plastics it leaves a very wet looking dark black finish.
3. Durability isn't as long as I expected.
4. It works on very faded plastic
5. Durability can be increased by topping with a trim sealant like UTTG.
6. It can take a very long time to dry
7. It's not a permanent fix, but it does leave a nice finish IMHO.

I'm currently testing it on the textured plastic on my running boards. It seems to be doing well. Looks excellent IMHO. It washed away on the smooth plastic on my roof rack after the very first wash. Roof rack parts WERE removed and scrubbed with APC, then rinsed with IPA and blown dry, so they were 100% clean, so failure can't be blamed on prep.

Here are some pics on my running boards. Car is unwashed when I took these (now). It's about a week old and looks dark and wet.

The thing is, it looks so good, I no longer step on the running boards to get in the truck. SF made getting in and out of my Pathy a PITA.

Wow. After it failed for me I gave up on it. But decided to try it again on different plastic. I would be thrilled to get half that time.

vrp is terrible on exterior trim, it will literally wash right off in the lightest moisture, even dew will take it out, and it streaked on some harder less porous trim

for a budget friendly trim treatment, I love eco touch tire shine, just got forever black trim gel in to try, g6 is good as well, silk shine is terrible
