I've been using the 5.5" LC hydrotech pads and wanted to see what ppl recommend. I stripped my backing plate and want to know if I should stick with 5" or go to 6"?

And what pads does everyone prefer .

Depends on the machine; what machine are you using?

The PCxp doesn't have enough power to turn the 6.5" pads. Stick with 5.5" with the PC.

Ok ... Shall I stick with the LC hydrotech pads or are there better ones ?

This is only for personal use,
Compounding polishing and sealant

Typically the HT pads don't last as long as most pads. I like the Lake Country flat pads. Orange white and black is all you really need.

Agreed. But pads do wear out after many uses so don't expect some miracle pad.

What about the CSS smart pads ?

The CCS pads work just as well as the flat ones in my opinion, they just cost more. The only thing I dislike about them is compound and polish gets stuck in the pores and is sometimes difficult to clean out.

I like the CCS pads too, fwiw.

The thing about stuff getting 'stuck' in them I've noticed is if you're giving normal pressure to the pad you'll think you need more material (polish etc) but letting up on the pad for just a second so and it'll sling more out.

Like let up on it where it's just lightly touching the surface and it lets more outta' the dimples. Sorta weird as opposed to a flat pad where you know when it needs more. It's like it's just hiding in the dimples waiting to be let out (like by a faster centripetal force).
