I'm looking to get a 3.5" backing plate for my PCxp so I can get in the tighter places easier on vehicles. What pads do you guys recommend for compounding/polishing?

I've only looked at the CCS pads and the hydro tech because that's all I see offered on the autogeek store.

What do you guys think?

Have you considered MF pads? I also really like the Hydro-Tech pads.

There are also the Cyclo pads: Cyclo 4 Inch Premium Foam Pads fit on each head of your Cyclo Dual Head Orbital Polisher (http://www.autogeek.net/cyclo-pads.html) , or these waffles: Lake Country Waffle Pro 4 Inch Foam Pads, buffing pads (http://www.autogeek.net/waffle-pro-spot-polish-pads.html)

I like the Hydro-Techs. They work great being used by hand too.

The megs microfiber pads only come in 3", which is too small. I don't have a cyclo polisher.

Are the lake country mf 4 1/4" pads any good? Will they fit on a 3.5" backing plate?

Right now I'm leaning toward the hydro tech pads, even though people say they don't last as long as regular pads. I wish lake country made 4" flat pads like the 5.5" ones.

You don't have to have a Cyclo to use Cyclo pads, they simply are foam pads with velcro backing. Both LC and Optimum make 4.25" MF pads that will be fine with your 3.5" backing plate.

The Cyclo 4" pads, which I believe are rebranded Buff and Shine - they're cheaper too.

As mentioned you don't need to own a Cyclo to buy and use Cyclo pads.

If you don't mind dropping to a 3" backing plate, I LOVE the CG Hex Logic self centering 4" pads. The LC 3" backing plate fits perfectly. I wish AG would start carrying these! (I can take pics if you want to see the fit)

If you want to stick with AG, I also really like the Megs 4" pads.

Ahh so many options. I am leaning toward the optimum mf pads but is it hard to finish out with the polishing pad as compared to a foam pad?

Oops, there's another one that I missed.

I just bought this kit, recieved it today actually. I like the ccs pads, and this seemed like the best deal right now.

So if I got the burgundy and black pads from meguiars are those similar to lake country orange and white pads?

No, they don't have an equivalent to the orange pads. The burgundy are like a yellow cutting pad, maybe even more coarse (the only burgundy I have are the older original Soft Buff, not the 2.0, and they are pretty coarse). The Meg's yellow is like the LC white, and the black is like...the black.

Cyclo pads are on ef the best and most durable.
