Thought i would share this since everyone here is a car guy. Went to IKEA this weekend and picked up a Billy Bookcase and glass doors to go with it for my diecast collection. Before this all of them just sat on an open shelf getting covered in dust. Hopefully there will be no more of that with this case. I still need to have some glass shelves made so the light shines all the way down.

Here are pics of the new setup!

Very cool! I have a wood corner curio with clear glass shelves and a mirrored back for my models. Some diecast, most I have built, and a few Franklin Mint ones that were gifts. Nice refreashing change to see folks are interested in automotive hobbies big and small. My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts.

I sold my entire hotwheels collection on ebay and i had some 1/24 that I sold on there as well and I definitely regret it. Some of them were as old as me(26 years). Don't ever sell them!!!!

Great idea! :)
Man don't even talk to me about Hot Wheels. Me, being a kid in the 60's had literally hundreds of them. Probably had 200' of track, all the loop-de-loops, power track, figure 8's, high banks, drag tracks, you name it. When I got married I left them at home. My little brother then was 9, and over the next few years managed to destroy every single one! (And you know how much some of those early ones are worth!)

Probably should dig out my die-cast stuff I keep telling myself. Haven't bought any in years, but collected strong from the 80's till about 10 years ago. Early NASCAR stuff, JG, DE and such. One of the ones I like the best are the "race used" 24 Hours of Daytona Corvettes in 1:16, both the 3 and 4 cars that were driven by Earnhardt. And of course there are several autographed ones too. Figure if I take them out of the boxes they'll just gather dust. ;)

Maybe they'll make for a good eBay sale one day. :dunno:
