Hey Everyone,
My name is Don Bedford. Basically I specialize in mostly hot rods, customs, and classic automobiles. I work one on one with several specialty shops one doing custom paint and body, one doing custom upholstery, and so forth. Everyone takes things to a certain level and then they move on. Lets say the paint shop may wet sand to 1500 grit but wind up leaving sand marks or little imperfections that just aren't finished, or the upholstery shop no matter how careful might wind up with some over spray of glue on the paint work. Well, when all is said and done, they bring the vehicle to me. Then its my job to basically do whatever needs to be done to make it look its very best prior to delivery to the Customer.
My normal Detail consists of lifting the vehicle up in the air on stands, pulling the wheels, often pulling all of the trim off, and many times pulling most of the interior out. Then I mask everything that wasn't pulled, wet sand to 3000 or higher finishing paper, work every panel including door jambs under hood and trunk and so forth till its either as close to 100% as it can get, or gets removed and reshot. All of the trim is then polished by hand, any straightening is done and then reassembled. Then I do a full final fit and finish on the interior making sure everything is clean, straight and looking as it should. Once that is done I usually will do the engine and engine compartment, and then undercarriage, wheels in and out, and final finish. On average my Details take between two to four weeks to complete top to bottom.
I also do Auction Cars, Museums, Private Collectors, as well as do wipe downs and corrections at major shows and so forth as well. Keeps me out of trouble.
