I have tried with #0000 steel wool and mother's metal polish, I can get some of the dirt out, by the result is very disappointing, please share advice how should I tackle this.

the stain seems to be there long time ago and no matter how long and hard i brush it, it is still the same.

to me it seems that the color change might not be dirt but rather chemical damage for prolonged period. and obviously someone has used steel wool to clean it before as there are tiny swirl mark on it.

thanks in advance.

Guessing its either stainless steel or polished aluminum? I'd probably go with a 2k-3kgrit sandpaper polish it out. If its still there then.. GOODLUCK haha

looks like chrome to me, if that is the case take a magnet an stick to it. scratched chrome cannot be fixed. would be cheaper to replace.jonathan

I definitely wouldn't sand it, try some Nevr-Dull on it. If it's bare, some Mother's Mag polish will work with enough elbow grease.

Those tips appear to be chrome plated. Did you get back residue when you polished the tips with metal polish?
