Hey guys,

I'm traveling for work to L.A. for a few days and was wondering what you guys would suggest picking up when I visit the Chemical Guys store. I'll be visiting the Inglewood location.

Also, any other suggestions for things to do while in L.A.?

I'll have a rental and time this Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

I'm thinking about going to the Petersen Automotive Museum.

Thanks for any tips!

As a Native to Los Angeles welcome to our town!

Depending on where you are staying, I have numerous suggestions. These are more "touristy" things to do, if thats not what you're looking for let me know, but to name a few, if you have time. Visitors love going to the Santa Monica area and enjoying the pier. Nice walk and restaraunts. Since the future wifey works for NASA I always suggest going to the Griffith Observatory, great place to see a view of all LA and get some science! :)

Also, you can visit the Tarpits on Wilshire, great fun to see the Fossils, the Art museum in Beverly Hills is quite nice too! Its fun to also walk the "walk of fame" in hollywood. Going all up and down Highland Ave and others. If you have time you can take the Pacific Coast Highway pretty much from Santa Monica to Malibu, a nice few hour drive for incredible views. This time of year you can drive 1-2 hrs out and enjoy Big Bear and some skiing.

Korea town is great, great people and food! Great history too!

Whatever you do, stay off the 405 between 3-6pm and you'll be fine!

Thanks for the reply, Chris!

My wife and I visited L.A. a year or two ago and we really enjoyed the Santa Monica atmosphere including that pedestrian walkway flanked by shopping on both sides. We also went to Santa Barbara and the nearby wine tastings.

We also did Griffith Observatory...I really liked that a lot and could spend a whole day there.

Going to a Lakers game tomorrow night.

I think I may visit the LaBrea Tar Pits...that seems interesting.

And the PCH drive sounds great. We did a little of it when we were there, but to do it with no rush and stop when I want would be nice.

Ooh, maybe I'll go to Koreatown and look for some good eats! The one thing I have to do is go to In N Out Burger and get a burger, animal style!

Any other suggestions? Some car/detailing-related activities?

I have always loved the Petersen and Parking is really easy. If you have time check out the Nethercutt collection. It is north of L.A. and only really worth it if you have time to sign up for a tour. If you yove 20-40s era cars this place is awesome!

I can't really add much to the above except to say that since it will be raining, definitely stay off of the 405 Freeway. When it rains in "El Lay" people can't understand how to drive in it. I travel the 405 every day and the drive home tonight is going to be a bear.

Considering the weather, I'd say the Peterson and the S.M./coast might be your best bet. The Getty is great, but depending on where you are staying, you'll probably need to take the 405.

BTW, when a CG's, check out their 550/70-30% microfibers.

Enjoy the time here!

In addition the the Petersen, there is the Planes of Fame museum in Chino, with maybe the best collection of vintage war aircraft anywhere.
There are lots of car oriented things in So Cal. It just depends upon your tastes. Lots of tuners, and parts manufacturers.

Hot Rods by Boyd

There are also a few exotic car dealerships in L.A. where you can see a lot of cars you can't see very often in other parts of the country.
Just because you aren't buying doesn't mean you can't look.

Thanks for all the replies, guys!

I had a great day at the Chemical Guys showroom and at the Petersen Museum. Finished my day by going to Koreatown for some Korean BBQ.

I think I'm going to forget about going to Cars & Coffee due to the rain. I may either go to the LA Auto Show or something else yet to be determined.
