Mike Phillips will recognize this car as he's had his hands on it a few times in the past. This car finally got out to me after I moved coast to coast 2 years ago. Car has been in and out of garages and workshops for the last few years and was FILTHY (My parents garage where it was stored the last few years has a connecting wood work shop, and this thing sat uncovered in it for about 4 years).

The paint was in horrible shape, and a 13 year old paint job. I used M105 and M205 topped with P21S. I really need to get someone to take a rotary too it and wetsand some spots as my DA just didn't cut into a few areas.

..had some time on my way to a show this morning to pull over real quick. First time I think i've taken photos of this thing in 4+ years. Proud to say I put 1,000 miles on this thing in October alone!

Nice ride. Looks good from a distance. DA's can accomplish more than people think with the right pad and impound/polish.

Like to hear more about it, engine, interior etc.

Yea, I went from M105 on a yellow 5.5" flat on some spots, did most with M105 on an orange pad and then M105 on a white.

I'll be honest it, a lot of this may have been a patience issue with me. That roof took me about an hour alone, I started getting tired and rushing a little bit.

That said, there are some sanding marks and what not that really need attention I'm not comfortable with pulling the rotary out on this thing myself.

about the car. '55 Chevy suburban, cut 3" out of the windows and 1.5-2" out of the crown in the roof, that's the big modification, everything was shaved off and tightened up. Has a 406" with a nice street cam, nothing heavy, it's a cruiser. Interior was done in the late 90's so it's a little tweed heavy ;) This will probably be the next change, move all the tweed to suede and leather. Then it's getting bagged with a set of 18's up front and 20's in the rear.

Wow. I was expecting a Bel Air. That truck is awesome.

Did you build it?

Don't be afraid of rotarys. Keep the speed down and take your time.

Okay if 105 and a yellow pad isn't giving you enough cut go to a wool pad. I'd try it again and really work the 105 compound, keep your pads clean. If the trucks paint is as bad as you say then compound, polish ans wax will take around 10-12 hours. Break it up if you get tired because technique is everything. This truck would be awesome to work on and I like the tweed.

Love the truck man looks awesome! Those Caddy tails really fit that rear end perfectly. Interesting color shift... Is that a candy red over a black base?

Color is a base plum and then a purple/blue on top. They are both stock dodge colors. Car is really hard to get the color to come out in photos. Hell most people think its black from a distance walk up and go "oh, it's blue...wait purple...wait..."

Hi Scott, welcome to AutogeekOnline! :welcome:

I very much remember working on your Suburban at Meguiar's...

I liked it back then and I like it even more today. Somewhere on MOL there's pictures of me wheelin your hood to remove swirls and then finishing out using a DA Polisher...

I also remember we clayed the painted dash as well as the entire Suburban and removed red overspray paint off the clearcoat... good times...

Looking forward to your contributions to the forum...

I had a hard time finding the above picture on the MOL forum and I know there are more, just had a hard time finding them.

Sure is a cool truck though...
