Has anyone tried using Pledge as an engine dressing? I've read it works surprisingly well.

Hi...and...:welcome:...to AGO!!

Has anyone tried using Pledge as an engine dressing? I've read it works surprisingly well.

You've asked this question before...http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/42539-no-wonder-they-advertise-pledge-can-used-autos.html

But first I'd like to ask you: Which Pledge?

Also...I also thought you had narrowed-down your engine-bay products:

And...As to this statement:

I've read it works surprisingly well.
Whom/What is your source?

Thanks! I did, but didn't get a response so I thought I'd start a new thread.

I was told the regular Pledge works fine, but you can also buy the Multisurface kind. I'm not really sure.

Here is what I currently have, some of which I have not used yet:

1. CD2
2. Sonus Motorkote
3. Gunk Foam Engine degreaser.

I used the CD2 on my wife's car, and it works well. I tried the Sonus product on the engine cover, but had some issues getting it to lay even w/o spotting.

I have always used Super Clean or Simple Green to clean the engine, but never realized those two products can be a bit rough on Al. So I'm thinking of using Simple Green Pro HD as my final engine cleaner knowing it's safe for Al.

My source for the Pledge comment was from an individual on another forum, and also a few internet searches. In fact, one of them may have been on this website.

Somewhere along the way, I'm sure a smart homemaker tried some Pledge on her kitchen appliances and saw how it cleaned them down to the shine and left them sparkling - maybe it was an auto mechanic or a car buff who tried the stuff first, I don't know. What I do know is Pledge is used in auto detailing and is highly thought of. Many show cars and customs you see on television are treated to a steady regime of Pledge dustings like many homes' furniture also receives at the hands of countless housekeepers.

The automotive section of the supermarket, department store, or the washing and waxing section of the auto parts store or the car dealer will have a multiplicity of competing products meant to care for the various surfaces in the vehicle - and incidentally, to separate you from your money. What if I told you Pledge will clean and treat the metal and glass areas of your car such that you can throw most of the other products in the trash - would that convince you?

RE:

-Thanks for providing your sources...although it appears that S.C. Johnson&Co.
was not one of them. But what would they know, anyway. LOL

-Now...Even if you use any of the Pledge branded products in/on/around your engine bay...
I can, with most assurity...100% Guarantee...you: I won't.
