Ok, look at my buddy's car. Where in the heck would you start polish-wise?

hmmmm......
i think try the XMT 3 first with the a cutting pad, if that doesn't work, use the number 4.
it looks like that long scratch need to be wetsanded.

Ouch! That's some pretty bad marring.

I'd say yes. XMT4, SSR3 or OHC. I'm sure a milder polish would improve it, but probably not be able to get rid of the major swirls without multiple passes. Then again, if the paint/cc is on the soft side, who knows. You could try a test spot with what you have and if that doesn't do the trick order something more aggressive.

Lauren, I think you should follow the Pinnacle "Heavey Swirl Removal" video to the "T" for starters. Yah, wouldn't be surprised if you went straight to XMT #4 after that. That car looks thrashed, but you will make it look beautiful. Looking forward to your "After" pics.

I haven't used XMT4, but I think the cut is similar to SSR3 and dusts less. But both would probably work similarly. You may want to consider OHC as well. Long work times, minimal to no dusting and you get more for your money.

I would say try the XMT #3 or SSR 2.5 w/ orange pad and then go to the XMT #4 or SSR 3 if it ain't strong enough. You can always use the yellow pad with either too!

..i would start at ssr2 or xmt2 and see how that does...then work your way up...some cars i have worked on that looked worse surprised me and finished fine with a medium grade swirl remover

WOW you got your work cut out babe, I agree that big white scratch will probably require wetsanding. If not a few passes of XMT 3 and perhaps one or two passes of XMT #4. Looks like my supervisors truck and I didn't wet sand but I did use XMT #4.

As for the rest, I'm sure XMT #3 and perhaps a green or orange pad should do it.

you can do it Lauren, it's just going to take time and patiance that's all.

Remember you got all the members here to help you out if you get stuck.

I've started using the Menzerna range latley because I seem to be doing alot of Audi's and VW's, and i'm getting some great results using only medium to light pads.

Looking forward to those after pics.

Yah and the hood has to be etched too - he has bird poop sitting on it for a couple of weeks! I keep yelling at him just to hose it, but no.............
I wanted to Qd it, but it is huge, and, well, those fancy AG microfibers are really in my trunk only for use on my vette....I should go to his house and pull out the hose. I would never live through being teased over that! (He is a family friend; don't get any ideas here.) He thinks we are all a little wierd on the forum. I know it is just him. LOL.
