i have a pc7424xp and m105,m205,and po85rd. i am looking to get much better correction then with my porter cable and m105. how much better is a rotary and which would you suggest and what compounds and polishes are working great with you.

Suggest you look at a couple videos here on rotaries before proceeding.....the can damage finishes very easily if used like a DA....

Upon what u were saying, I can assume that you are looking for a faster way to get the job done. So rotary wool pad m105 is what you need then finish with your regular pcxp procedures. And of course, surbuf pad DA m105 will almost do the same thing as with rotary at slower rate.

i am not looking for faster as i only detail my car and help my friends i am looking for better correction. removing more swirls and small imperfections

Same answer as above still applies then...rotary, wool, M105. Can't hardly beat that correction combo, at all. Getting done quicker is just a side benefit of the combo.

The rotary is faster and better for deep scratches.

For finish work use your Porter Cable with the Meguiar's Microfiber DA system.

M105 with a foam pad, then MFDA Correction with the correction disc, then MFDA with the finish disc.

I've been using a rotary for close to a decade now and I'll be honest - M105 isn't the most rotary friendly compound that I have put to use. When it gets as heated as a rotary's pad can get at around 1200-1400 rpm, it can get gummy and stick to the paint surface. Granted, the plus side is that it doesn't produce even half the dust compared to when it is used with an orbital, but still a down side for me.

IMO, the best compound you'll find here on AG for a rotary is Menzerna's PowerGloss. Its smooth, works quickly and doesn't leave much of a mess that would have to be cleaned up via polishing.

Since you already have a DA Polisher, go for a rotary buffer. Correction is much much faster and you have lots of backing plate and pad options. Check these out...
