Anyone use a cordless drill and the adapter for polishing?

Was thinking about buying the adapter for my cordless drill and running the 2 3/4 backing plate with 3in pads for tight spaces. I was curious if anyone else does this and wondered a few things:
1. Is it risky due to the high speeds possible with a cordless? Obviously the speed can be controlled, but how risky?
2. Ease of use? Does it make tight spots much easier to polish, or am I better or doing it by hand?
3. Does it leave holograms do to it being a rotary?
Any good pad recommendations?

I use my drill with a Mother's powerball mini. Its a handful. I can't imagine how much more of a handful a flat pad would be. I'd just get the Griot's 3" or a small backing plate for your DA.

I have the powerball, but I tried that for wheels and it sucked. I figured the drill would be pretty easy to use and control, but I could be wrong. It'd just be for tight areas

Like everyone else, i can only speculate, but after using the powerball on my drill and experiencing the "runaway drill" if it ever happens to bite a corner or something, i wouldn't want to use it on anything painted.

I'd say a GG 3" would be the best bet. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking i'll add one to my collection over the winter.

Yea that powerball just wanted to walk and it sucked. My thinking is that a flat pad attached to a drill would just be a lot like a miny rotary ya know? I'm looking at the GG 3" as well. A backing plate, the drill adapter, and one pad is relatively cheap to give a shot though

Not an impact drill...

-It's a 12V(DC)...'rotary mini-polisher' with a 3" BP...

-I consider it: Not too shabby of a tool for my purposes.

I use my drill with the 3m headlight resto kit adapter with Meg's 4" pads all the time. Works great for paint or polishing chrome bumpers.

I never had an issue with the power ball mini.

I have a 3" back plate for my PC and will use it when I need it but sometimes the machine is too big to allow me to reach some areas even with the smaller pad. I'd like one of the air tools Bob posted earlier for those situations.
