I have the Brinkmann and also tried another one, forgot the brand/type, at our Chicagoland detail day and I will say that mine, that has a halogen type bulb showed a more "real" look compared to the other one that had LED lighting, it really made a difference.

I have the Brinkman, a few LED flashlights and an LED headlamp that I use for correction jobs. Since I am mobile I never know what kind of lighting the client will have in their garage so the headlamp really comes in handy. I got the headlamp off eBay for under $5.00.

-A hand-held swirl-finder that uses the patented Solux 35w halogen lamp/(bulb)
...........[the same lamp/(bulb) in 3M's Sun Gun]...........
will offer: "True-Daylight" lighting specs.

-That's what the better body/paint-shops have at their disposal.

I like my Brinkman but it can't find all defects. Different lights show different aspects, much like different car care products have various functions, but all are needed.

Is that bulb in any other hand held light?

are there any lights like this that could be your stand alone swirl finder? for times when 1000watts are unavailable?

Wow thanks for the links! Wish I would've known about that before I spent ~$30 on a brinkmann. Oh well, guess you can't have too many lights lol

^^ I completely agree with this.

I find the Brinkmann is sometimes too bright and "drowns out" some of the defects which can then be seen under normal flourescent lights.
