I need to get some cold weather prep done quickly. My ususal method of attack is 845, as it's proven to be a good performer. However, I want to give the car a light polish as well.
So, I am thinking of using either Meg's color x or Griot's one step sealant, as I need something quick and can source these. Any thoughts on issues with topping these or would you pick one or the other?
I also have DG, but I would like to use something different.
Thanks.

The ColorX will work as a great paint cleaner to prep the surface while leaving it protected. Applying a secondary non-cleaning wax or sealant will ensure more uniform protection.
It's a common practice and one we did to one of our project cars at last weekend's Detailing Boot Camp class, when I get to the picture I'll try to remember to post it here.

What DG do you have? 501 topped with 845 would be a great combo.

Thanks...I do have 501 but want a bit more polishing. Would you have a preference in the product...Griots versus Colorx?
Thanks.

I'm not sure that either of those are going to give you more polishing than the 501, but I haven't used either of them, so I really can't help. If Mike recommends the ColorX, I don't see how you can go wrong.
I have found the Meg's cleaner waxes (including NXT and the old Gold Class) to stain trim (while DG 501 doesn't seem to), but the ColorX is a newer formula, so it may not.
EDIT: You might want to look at this DG 501 example: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/45222-duragloss-501-strikes-again.html

I had an issue with 501 and micromarring. Maybe I will try it again, as it seems that the HT crimson works well with 501. However, colorx is super foolproof in my experience.

I agree, ColorX doesn't correct anymore than DG501. Neither really has any bite though.
