Gold Coast Corvette Show Pictures - 2012 (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/55656-gold-coast-corvette-show-pictures-2012-a.html)

I didn't get a lot of pictures this year because I stayed pretty busy showing "Car Guys' how to properly buff out paint to remove defects without inflicting swirls at the same time.

Here's Tommy's new 1970 Plymouth Barracuda with a 440, 727 Transmission, Hemi Orange with a Black Vinyl Top and believe it or not, even though the paint looks good in this picture it's COMPLETELY SWIRLED OUT! So expect to see this this car in an upcoming show car makeover.

Just down from Tommy's new toy was this immaculate Ford Fairlane and the paint actually looked very good. I would place it at #2 Excellent Condition

Takes a few minutes to go through the pictures, pick out the pics that are in focus and tell a story, crop out the fluff, resize to 800 pixels wide, upload to a gallery and then insert them not simply attach them which is lame...

Hang on...

Like I posted previously, I didn't have much time to get out and take a lot of photos, most of these were done very early in the morning while people were parking and setting up. After Nick and I did our best to demonstrate and educate...

That's about all I have except for some pictures where I removed paint transfer off my demo car...

All and all it was a great show, the weather was phenomenal and lots of car eye candy to enjoy. Swirls and cool cars are the norm so nothing surprising about this...

Here's the 468 Big Block Chevy. Small block are cool but there's no bragging rights with a small block...

This was my demo car, it was covered in water spots, Type II Water Spots with imprint rings. I removed them off the hood during the show.

There was also Paint Transfer on the rear passenger fender which I removed by hand while I was there as explained in an article in my article list and also in my how-to book.

Typical car show. A sea full of swirls and owners grinding dirt into their paint

Wonder why people who own show cars are so oblivious to caring for them proper?

Great photos Mike! Meghan managed to snap quite a few too.

Overall it was a great show and I'm very glad we participated.

Enjoy the photos!

Nice pics there for sure and typical Corvette's with swirls, NO REASON for those classics to look like that but no matter where the show, there they are, classic Corvette's and swirls, you expect it from the new ones nowadays. I really don't get it either but that's what keeps detail shops in business and those guys need to get their arses into one of their local shops, instead of spending money on gawdy paint schemes, cheesy interior upgrades, cheap lookin' add-ons from a big name catalong, try this......GO TO A DETAIL SHOP AND GET YOUR PAINT LOOKIN' GOOD! I love Corvette's, they are my favorite cars (mid year especially) but for some reason, Corvette owners either ruin the cars by adding too much crap to them and/or not taking care of them like they should.

Truth be told...

-I really enjoy driving to/attending Car Shows with "The Good Wife" accompanying me.

*Even when/if the weather is inclimate.
*The always alluring festival-food that awaits my partaking thereof.
*Camaraderie of 'Car-Guys/Gals'
*Constructive criticism:

...I stayed pretty busy showing "Car Guys' how to properly buff out paint to remove defects without inflicting swirls...

Due to some of the above reasons...I do not own any vehicles---including Corvettes...
that have an actual "Show Car" finish, as it were.

Rather, I prefer my vehicles top-coat paint-films have as much protection ('thickness') from
environmental/man-made contaminates and UV exposure as possible.

This, however, doesn't preclude my efforts to provide my vehicles with:
as-swirl-free/as-clean-as-a-hound’s-tooth...paint-conditions of which I'm capable.
(More often than not, though, these efforts are deemed by some as being fruitless---in vain…Hacked-up .)

Still doesn't cause me too much grief, or take the Fun out of being a vehicle owner/displayer at any Car Show event!
("I'll attempt more "suitable" results next time, perhaps"?, I may promise myself.)
The time-worn adage: "taken with a grain of salt"...comes to mind.

__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________

-Some Corvette owners are a little eccentric in their 'mods'---"plum-crazy" at times:

http://www.autogeekonline.net/gallery/data/500/purpledottedC6.jpg (http://www.autogeekonline.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/50006)

-But I take comfort believing that every individual on this planet Earth is inflicted
with their own form/idea of idiosyncrasy…even if short-lived…
and, (although the Bible says to do otherwise), "judge-able" by all others?

I suppose how one interprets these 'Judgements' is an inner-look at, perhaps:
Character/character-building.

So (FWIW)...Whenever asked...I reply:

"Yes! I like Car Shows. But, alas, I don't have any Show Cars"!!

Here's the pictures I took from last year's show, I think there's over 100 high resolution pictures of a wide variety of cars.

Last year I didn't work at the show simply photographed it and that's why I didn't get as many pictures this year.

Gold Coast Corvette Club - First Annual Car Show (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/off-topic/40573-gold-coast-corvette-club-first-annual-car-show.html)

I liked these two the best because I like slotted mags and Halibrand Magnesium wheels. I met the owner of the Mercury over the summer and he told me the wheels on his Merc are the REAL DEAL, purchased right from Halibrand.

Slotted Mags are my favorite type of wheel... they sure work well on the Vette...

Just the other day ago here on the forum we were talking about magnesium wheel. I asked the guys standing in front of this Mercury if they knew the owner or where he was so I could ask him if these were the real deal or reproductions but couldn't find him.
