Polish drying out?

Using my Porter Cable for the first time with a orange pad & SI polish, I was having a problem with the polish drying out. I was working a small area and applying a good size X to the pad. Polish seemed to dry after a short time. In aiding the removal of the product from the paint I had to mist with detailing spray. Should I be using a more generous application of product; mist with water? Was working in shade & temp. was 75.

Prime your pad first and be sure you're not working too large an area at once.


Also, don't buff to a dry buff, you should always have a wet film behind your path of travel.

Hey Mike, I modified my question that I asked you before...so To prevent dry buffing, should i grab my Kwazar Pro (containing water) and spritz it on the body panel, and apply more product?

I do don't so this as a normal practice, that is spritz panels with water. Instead, try to figure out what's causing you to go to a dry buff?

Mike, I've got a similar/related question. Like the OP I have very limited experience and have used either Swirl X or GG MP3 on an orange pad on a GG ROP. I seem to have a dry pad while running on 4.5 or so but then as the pad slows to a stop when I turn off the machine it leaves a pretty heavy trail/wet spot as it stops. I've been using one of the thicker 4" pads too if that matters. I wasn't sure how to interpret this. Thanks for any input.

Just to clarify the previous comment, there doesn't seem to be a lot product to wipe off when I stop and almost none a lot of the time. That's the main reason I wasn't sure about my technique.
