Any antique bicycle enthusiasts here? Need some help.

I am working on restoring this old three wheeled Royal Enfield tricycle. I need to find a source for parts for this thing. Mostly everything can be either painted or re-chromed, but when I removed the rear wheels and rear frame section I realized that one of the wheel bearings is completely gone. Both the balls and the bearing cage are completely gone on the inside of the non driven wheel hub.

Anyone here deal in old bicycles or know of any sites to find old hard to get parts for them? I started a google search and am far from done searching but thought I would appeal to the membership here for ideas. I'll probably go to a bicycle shop with the wheel and the cone type bearing race and see if it's a common size bearing.

I do believe that most if not all British bikes had loose bearings, hence no cage.

I did something bad almost a decade ago in college...

we found a 3 wheeled bike like this in a scrap yard and stole the rear, wheels and a few other things to use on a 4 wheel, side-by-side bike for a parade.

Had the same problem with the outer bearings in the housing being shot. Was fortunate to find the local bearing distributor had the FAG brand bearing we needed in stock! cost was around $9 each.

after the parade, we chopped the frame for a few other projects and I believe I still have the hub, rear and a few other parts in the attic. Might be the same setup as what you have photo. The rear hub has a gear reduction system inside that is controlled by an arm.

let me know the outer size of the axle and the inner diameter of the housing.

Hi Bill, This tricycle did indeed have caged ball bearings which is what concerned me. I did get this situation figured out by taking the wheel and the bearing cone races into a local bike shop. They suggested that it would be better to have loose ball bearings in it than caged bearings. They sold me a handful of loose ball bearings. Problem rectified. Thanks for the replies though guys!!
