i have an assortment of MFs from here that i've had since 2008. i have all kinds but the ones that i'm concerned about are the ultra soft supreme ones, maybe they were called 530s or something? i have about 20 of those. and then i have some shorter pile ones, same thing, about 20. the rest are various other drying and glass towels that are fine.

well, all of them lint when wiping and always have. ESPECIALLY if wiping something where it's somewhat dry, like lighting buffing off previously wiped opti-clean or instant detailer, or following opti-coat. i wash them separately from not only anything else but from each other. meaning, i don't mix types. i'll do 20 at a time but of the same type. i have always used MF Restore with heavy soaking time and two rinses and on rare occasion, if there is a heavy stain that soaking won't remove, i'll use Shout then wash.

a while back, before i got these, i had another cobra towel collection that was composed of towels called indigo something and they all linted horribly. i tried every trick in the book, including boiling them and nothing worked. so AG replaced them and the next batch linted too, hehe. i haven't used them since, but all the rest lint too so i never got ahead.

are there any MFs out there that don't lint when you wipe, especially if it's somewhat dry? it's crazy - these things will leave these silvery refracting slivers all over whatever it is that i wipe and it's annoying. the worst is the ultra plush side of the supreme 530s - so annoying.

I have been happy with the gold plush jrs. My 600s lint like crazy too, the 530s not as bad. What i really like the rolled edge ones havent had a issue with linting and plush.

Is your rig black? I've yet to find any MF that doesn't lint out on my truck. I have everything from costco, to cobra and have yet to find a lint free MF for my black rig. Its funny though that I don't notice the lint on any other colors.

Do you want to sleep at night with your wife or 1200 fluffy microfibers?

i see it on all colors, even on my own silver car! but it's WAY more evident on dark colors or black, you are totally right. they are little reflective slivers. also, i can't go anywhere near glass with any of the towels i have except OPT's glass towels, his little blue short nap MF towels or my Mothers drying towels...oh, and my old guzzlers that i use for pre-drying when wiping with OCW or something like that.

I use the white/red border Sonus towels. Thick, Soft and no lint. Great for light buffing.

thanks. i've heard good things but i can't stomach paying that for a towel(s) where i'm considering replacing my whole lot. i do know i never want to deal with linting again. over four years...that's enough.

I was told once by an old detailer that he used old cotton t shirts on his black cars. Iv'e never tried this as I don't have any black vehicles. But I do know his cars looked great.

there are guys who swear by diapers too but i really think that we've progressed from that. microfibers in various naps have many benefits that these more antiquated materials don't. the biggest advantage with a microfiber imo is surface area because of the way the fibers are set up. if you are buffingsomething, you have zillions of engineered soft fingers doing the work. if you are washing/wiping, those fingers help lift stuff off and up into the media.

i love my MFs, i just have been completely disappointed with linting for about as long as i've been srsly detailing.
