BlackLight By DA - Any Tips?

So tomorrow I am detailing my Corvette. I worked all last weekend so I figured I deserve a day for this. I brought it home this evening and gave it a Dawn wash so first thing tomorrow its BlackLight topped with DP Max Wax!

So I havent found explicit instructions for BlackLight by DA. I plan on using my Griots and a red HT pad just like polishing - prime the pad then 3 pea sized drops? I did read that it likes to be spread at speed 3.5 or 4, was going to go with 3.5 with little to no pressure. Leave to cure 20 minutes then wipe off.

Anything else somebody wants to add?

I have, based on reading as much as I can, and my own experiecne, I have found that a black pad, speed 4-5, for two passes, then slower speed for 2 passes seems to do well. I've also applied it by hand

You don't need to prime the pad, just a few drops and you're set. I tried it at slower speeds and wasn't impressed, so I kicked it up to 5. I haven't used it much to be honest.

It sounds like you are using Blacklight as an AIO. I normally use it as a step before LSP. A few drops will do the entire panel and it is a breeze to take off. Blacklight has a small amount of abrasives built in to the formula and it is often best to do the second coat by hand. I noticed a better performance from the product by giving it a longer cure time ( after product removal ) than the suggested 20 mins before topping it off.

It sounds like you are using Blacklight as an AIO. I normally use it as a step before LSP.

I usually use a paint cleaner like P21s before applying a wax and/or glaze. I figure the BlackLight has enough cleaners to skip that step. This car has very clean paint, its cleaned/waxed after every 3-4 drives as its only driven occasionally on some rather twisty and challenging roads :)

I was planning on giving it an hour after removal before putting the wax on top. Do you suggest longer than that even?

I experimented with several curing time in the past. Now, I just let it sit for about an hour or two. I even let it sat overnight once and noticed no significant improvement in durability vs the 1 to 2 hours time frame.

All done applying/removing the blacklight, about half way through the max wax application.

One thing I noticed is that as the blacklight cures it becomes harder to see. When its fresh, it looks like a freshly applied, wax but as it cures, it seems to almost vanish into the paint. It does dry however, its not like a glaze that just sits there.

It is difficult to classify this product...Glaze? Finishing Polish? Gloss Enhancer? Sealant???

Black pad on speed 4. Works like a charm. Pressure and arm speed varies the results.

Storage for Winter????? If that's the case then it is a shame. I am in CA so we don't have to deal with all that (harsh winter months). Nice car!!!!

No I just store it when I dont drive it. I only drive it every couple weeks into the mountains or a couple times a year to a track day.
