Repolishing with a new polish will strip off the old polish.

What was the last thing you applied to the paint?

What is the new polish you plan on using?

Mike, thank you for your response, I am currently using Zaino and was reading an article on here about the Pinnacle polish. This is what I am going to try next, layer Souverän over a coat of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. I have got to apply these by hand because I don't feel qualified to use my buffer on my new 2013 Vette. Thanks for the help.

If you're "buffer" is a dual action polisher, fear not! Applying wax is a great time to learn your machine. Not to mention being able to spread the products better. Start it on speed 3 with a finishing/wax pad and get to learning, you're not going to damage the rock hard clear coat on your vette applying deep gloss paint sealant.

The above answer is specifically why I asked the questions I asked and the reason for that is because there no definitive definition for wards like polish. In fact I write about it in my how-to book and in this article,

Word Definitions - Compounds, Polishes, Glazes, Paint Cleaners and Waxes (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/39020-word-definitions-compounds-polishes-glazes-paint-cleaners-waxes.html)

Here's an excerpt which also explains to the "T" how the word polish is used to describe the Zaino Z2

There's always a lot of confusion when it comes to words and terms used in the car detailing industry and hobby.

Part of the reason for this is because there's no organization in the auto appearance industry that regulates or has oversight over the language used to describe and market car appearance products. Manufactures, marketers and distributors of car care appearance products can and do name their products using whatever terms they like regardless of the confusion it may cause or any historical precedents.

Judge a product by the function it performs, not the name on the label
Because there's no universal or industry accepted standards for definitions for words and terms used in the car care appearance world, my practice and recommendation to others is to judge a product not by the name on the label but by what function the product serves.

For example if a product is referred to as a polish but acts as a paint sealant, then the product is in fact a paint sealant and not an abrasive polish in the historical use of the word.

If a product is referred to as a glaze but acts to seal the paint with some type of water insoluble paint protection ingredients, then the product is a wax or a paint sealant or some hybrid variation of a wax or paint sealant and not a glaze in the historical use of the word.

You didn't mention which Zaino products you're using but the most popular product for Corvettes is the Zaino Z2 Polish which is in fact a synthetic paint sealant, not a polish.

The Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Polish is actually a paint cleaner in that it is non-abrasive and uses chemical cleaners to gently clean the paint and remove any unwanted surface stains, oxidation and impurities.

A true polish in the historical sense would be a product capable of abrading the surface. In the above article I list the known categories of products and products that abrade are the top 4 products listed. The Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion would fall into the Pre-Wax Cleaner or Paint Cleaner category.

Aggressive Cut Compound
Medium Cut Polish
Fine Cut Polish
Ultra Fine Cut Polish
Non-Abrasive Glaze or Pure Polish
Pre-Wax Cleaner
Paint Cleaner
Carnauba Wax
Synthetic Paint Sealant
Hybrid Sealant/Wax
Paint Coating
Cleaner/Wax or AIO

(Note that cleaner/waxes can be abrasive like polishes, you just have to do the research to find out)

The Z2 Polish is fairly stout, I'm not 100% sure that the Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion will remove 100% of it but it might and probably will if I had to take a guess.

Are you applying the Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Polish by hand or machine?

Okay well I think you just answered my question about whether or not you're going to apply the Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Polish by hand.

With the product you listed, here's what I would do,

Wash and dry or wipe the car clean.
Apply the Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion using a soft, foam applicator pad. Only apply to a section about 16" to 20" squarish at a time, don't try to tackle to large an area or you'll find you won't be as thorough and for what you're trying to do you want to be thorough.

Next apply the Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant. Allow this to dry for about 45 minutes and then wipe it off.

Allow the car to remain un-touched for at least 12 hours to allow the protection ingredients to fully set-up.

Next carefully, and gently apply the Pinnacle Souveran and immediately wipe it off.

I have a number of videos that cover most of the above topics, if you want I can get you the links.

Also, this article here goes over using the Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion by hand,

I was going to ask the same question in this post.

Jim, is your "buffer" a DA Polisher or is it a rotary buffer or an old school orbital buffer?

If it's a DA Polisher it's really safe and easy to learn how to use.

Applying wax is a great time to learn your machine. Not to mention being able to spread the products better. Start it on speed 3 with a finishing/wax pad and get to learning, you're not going to damage the rock hard clear coat on your vette applying deep gloss paint sealant.

Perfect.
