I'm considering putting dg 501 on my wife's DD a white Chevy equinox. I've read that 501 really cleans and shines up white well. How many times per year would you re-apply? I've read that it cleans really good so I wasn't sure if I should try to limit the number of applications.

DG 501 ia an excellent AIO. It has very fine abrasives that remove minor swirls. Use it mixed 4:1 with DG 601 ( 4parts 501 to 1 part 601.) It should last you about six months dependeing on how you maintain your car. For more swirl removing ability, apply it with a DA or rotary as I did recently. Some people will follow up with a coat of DG Aquawax. I use Collonite #845.

I thought the 501, or the 501/601 combo was just for paint cleaning. Does it offer protection as well? If so, I've misunderstood this.

yes it is a great sealant! the 601 helps the 501 bond to the paints surface

DG 105, 501, and 111 are all sealants that offer excellent, long lasting protection. They differ in how much cleaning, correction ablity they have. 501>105>111
DG601 is a Polish Binding Agent. It prepares the surface and helps the sealant to set up. You can apply it first or as a mixture with the sealant. You can choose not to use it at all. If you choose not to use 601, you neeed to wait a day before applying a second coat of the sealant as it will take longer to cure.

I realize that 601 is the bonding agent. I actually have some 501/601 that richy sent to me, but with family illnesses my time has been cut tremendously short this summer and I haven't had a chance to use it.

I didn't realize 501 was a sealant as well. Can anyone else verify this as well? I thought I needed to follow up with something like DG105, or 111. I must not have been paying close enough attention.

Yes 501 has protection qualities built in the product. Use on boats/jet skis as a sealant.

To the OP, great choice for a DD. How long it lasts depends on where you live, how the vehicle is stored etc.. To me in Southern California, my white truck gets DG501 one coat followed by Collonite 845 the next week one coat once a year. Every other wash gets spritzed with DG Aqua Wax (sometimes referred to as AW or 951), Holds out in our weather without being garaged for almost the year.

Bill 501 does provide protection on its own. Now if you follow up with 105 or 111 it will provide more........take it ons step further and add Coli845 on top of that and you have the longest lasting protection i've used to date.

I used the three step proccess on my truck over 14 months ago and its still beading!

nothing but washes with 901 soap.

Go for it! DG 501 really deep cleans paint and lays down a nice coat of protection as others have mentioned. I'm in the process of using it right now as a base for another Duragloss sealant that doesn't get any attention. ;)

I thought so too.....the truck for the last 5 months has been living in the shop Mon-Fri then its outside on the weekends. So that has helped in its longevity.

the Wife's car lives under a carport in the evenings only.....has the same treatment and I'm looking at 9 months and its starting to show it needs some attention, but its still beading. A boost with AW would probably do the trick.

For a dd I would Highly recomend Dg Products for the price and the protection!

For some reason I procrastinated trying nearly every Duragloss product except their #901 car wash......which is an awesome wash!!

So, I decided to try give some other Duragloss products a try and OH MY GOD they work well!!

Duragloss 501 has fine abrasives that not only remove oxidation, it'll also correct small surface defects leaving the finish looking gorgeous!

My daily driver done with Duragloss 501
