My buddy wants something to help him with washing the roof of his truck. he doesn't like standing on the rocker and hanging on with one arm while reaching out with a sponge in the other...suggestions....preferrably something available right here at AG!

For the fleet of F-250's I maintain, a boars hair brush and expandable handle is what I use. Brush was from AG (love it) and the handle was previously my painters pole. Just don't forget to pre-soak the brush.

I have been told previously to use a ladder to get up high enough

I use a Werner portable work platform. You can usually find them for $20 during major holiday sales at Lowes or Home Depot.
Shop Werner Aluminum Portable Work Platform at Lowes.com (http://www.lowes.com/pd_146404-287-AP-20-MP6_0__?productId=1017889&Ntt=platform&pl=1¤tURL=&facetInfo=)

I have the same platform but still need more reach for the crew cabs on 4x4's and I'm 5'10".

+1. This is the best. Also Makes a great bench and tool rest. Plus it folds up.

I also got the boars hair brush with retractable handle

But, I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Should make washing an SUV a breeze. Less bending and it fits in a 5 gallon bucket, so you can clean it with your grit guard.

There are several options but I chose this one.
Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Xtend & Climb IMAC Mini Scaffold Step Ladder (http://www.amazon.com/Xtend-Climb-IMAC-Scaffold-Ladder/product-reviews/B0026ZOISM/ref=dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1)
I am pleased with it after using it for 3-4 months. It is sturdy for my 200 lb weight. If I had the storage space available I could see liking a unit sized for the length of the cab that way I do not have to get off and move it. Of course, my truck is a crew cab so it is bigger than some.
Good luck!

I've never used anything but a ladder or worked from the truck bed :dblthumb2:

2-step or 3-step ladder. not too bulky to carry around the vehicle

Absolutely the best tool I have used for reaching rooftops. Very sturdy and lightweight. When not standing on it, it holds my buckets/supplies so I don't have to bend over as much. You can't go wrong with the Werner work platform!

Thanks for the feedback. I'll tell him to get a Montana brush and work platform.

You could always learn to use stilts. You'd probably be the most badass car washer in your area then :righton:
On a more serious note make sure to use a good foaming shampoo. The first time I used the Montana brush I cheaped out and used some 3 yo 3m car wash soap. Some areas were left marred.

The most obvious answers are the ones that usually evade us. A pickup has a built in platform. The bed. Climb back there and wash to your hearts content.

Great for a standard pick up but not a crew cab and getting in and out of a 3/4 ton or larger 4x4 wears ya out. :xyxthumbs:
