You can order the Edge kit and adapter which does NOT need a backing plate. Or order the flexible backing plate in a size smaller than the pads you are going to use.

I like Poorboys Bug Squash but Stoners Tarminator is a powerhouse when needed.

There's nice swirl removal kits that come with pads. XMT Series by Pinnacle; Xtreme Machine Technology polishes & glazes for dual action orbital & rotary polishers. (http://www.autogeek.net/xmt.html) XMT kits here.
The Poorboy’s Polish & Protect Kit removes moderate imperfections from your vehicle’s finish, seal it under a glossy coat of carnauba, and then (http://www.autogeek.net/popoprkit1.html) Poorboy's kit here.
Optimum Detailing Kit:This kit contains the optimum products for swirl removal & paint protection! (http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-kit.html) Optimum kit here.

Hopefully that gives you a nice start :D. Tar and bug removal, Poorboy's has one called Bug Squash.

If you're a fan of saving money.. you will be. ;)

If you pick up the EDGE pads, you get this "bit" or attachment, you screw into the head of the PC, and snap on the EDGE pads to the other side. I love their system..

Are you 18 years old, BTW?

I was in your same shoes.. about $300 including a PC got me started. Didn't take me but a weekend to make it all back. It's possible, trust me.

You need essentials, like pads. And get XMT 360 as well. Some soap, drying towel, some good wax, XMT 360, tire dressing, extra MF, vaccuum, and extension cord.

That's about all I had...

I just turned 20.

i am not sure about the xmt 360 because you cant buy the polish in bulk size for cheaper. 15$ a bottle aint cheep in my book :p

how long does that bottle last, if you use it freely

If you use it on 10 cars, and charge them $40, that's $400. Minus expenses... You will EASILY clear $350 if not more. That's $1.50 a car for product from XMT 360. You should be able to get 15-20 cars with 16 oz. About an ounce or so per car. Of course, depends on the car, truck, suv, van etc.

Remember, you can't charge $40 and not produce. Then they won't come back to youur business, nor spread word, which is the most powerful marketing you can have.

if you are 17 you should do what all of us teenagers are doing that very few teens do... detail! Im 19 and just bought my PC kit. I got the one with CCS pads, cost about 189 for the kit and then i bought a bunch of waxes and extra polishes, wheel cleaner, a few other things and the total came out to 350 bucks. I detailed my girlfriends best friends car, a real pos ford escort. Well i transformed that thing back to looking brand new! This was my first time with the PC too, its so easy. Now her mom wants her car done, and so does my other friends mom, and a friends cousin.... EVeryone wants their car detailed! its easy money and really makes the person happy to see such a nice looking car. Have fun with your PC man, i played with mine today on my car just testing out different pad and polish combos. Now i know how i will tackle my car this weekend!
