Hello Friends,

I own a '99 Ford Explorer and It needs good detail to get back to show room shine. I need to know the order of how to detail a car after I wash & dry it. Is this order correct? Polish (Whats a good polish?), Clay Bar, Swirl remove, Paint Sealant, wax, Glaze. Any help would be great!

Thanks and Regards,
Alvin

Whats a good polish?

I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the products AutoGeek sells. Will you be working by hand or machine?

If you are going to go with a machine, this kit works very well: Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction System 5 Inch Starter Kit, paint correction kit, dual action polishing kit (http://www.autogeek.net/da-microfiber-starter-kit-5in.html) It's fast and easy to learn, gives you a great result. Best if you buy a few extra pads and use an air compressor to blow them clean between panels.

I still don't know why Autogeek doesn't do a bundle of the above kit with a polisher (probably the G110 would be a good match). Nick? Meghan? Anyone?

My two cents:

Take a person that is a cherry to detailing, put a bundled MF/polisher kit in their hands and you'll wind up with way more unsatisfied customers. Think about the large # of threads where overloading product on foam is an issue...concerning end results.

Overload a foam pad and a newbie can still see something happening...just not what they envisioned.

Overload a MF pad...

I wash dry. Clay, polish/compound, glaze, seal/durable wax like 845. Top with Nuba. Glaze helps with shine and is not durable usually. A good polish depending on severity is Meg's ultimate compound. Poorboys has several that are great, but depending on your access and budget and severity. All these recs are for machine correction and glaze etc. just my opinion.
