All I had at the start of the detail was my cell camera, so they might not be the best. (only the first 2 pics were with cell) The car I did was a 2006 black Infiniti. It turns out that the car was severely neglected, and in need of a paint correction. Oxidation, contaminates, major swirls, bird poop etchings, scratches, and so on. What a car to start with!

So anyway, I proceed to wash, clay, and start with meg's ultimate compound (first time using it) with an orange pad. I then followed that with poorboys polish and sealant, (black pad) then topped off with mother's wax. To make a long detail short (I'm tired) it was a smashing success. It came out as good as one could hope. Of course some of the deep scratches couldn't be removed, but I de-swirled it effectively, and got rid of most of the bird poop etchings. What a shine!

The customer was extremely happy, and said it was more than he had hoped for. Plus, I got to charge almost double. ($175) Me very happy, but VERY tired. (9 hrs to do it) Now for the pics. Keep in mind it started raining towards the end of the detail, and had to take the pics from inside the carport.

If you look close, you can see the damage done by the bird bombs, and the finish is absolutely horrible.

Another shot of the pre-correction hell on wheels.

The rest of the pics speak for themselves, and were taken with a real camera.

It looks like a friggin mirror! And yes, the cowl and wiper blades did wind up getting the black treatment.

Man, was it a lot of hard work. I now have a true appreciation of what goes into it. Not bad for a first job, and only second time using my meg's DA. Who says I don't learn quick?

Ask other people what they got on their first job. I do plan on charging more as I go along. Sheesh. Experience was my main concern at this point. Plus, I made more today than I do working 30 hours at my grocery store job. In time, not worried.

Just keep studying, and believe in yourself. I must have spent at least 80 hours studying and watching videos before this.

But talk about being thrown into the fire right off the bat. A normal quick polish with an AIO on a light colored car will seem easy now.

Yeah, and the guy from post #3 seems to think what I got was low. :wow:

I also think that the price was fair...only 2nd time with a polisher? Keep up the good work.

Thanks vegas. Actually, my first time with the polisher was probably no more than 20-30 minutes applying some polish. Never thought my first gig would be a full blown correction on a black car of all things. I'm just glad I got it out of the way.

Some people actually told me studying doesn't mean a lot. I beg to differ.

We all have to start off somewhere. I do this as a hobby I did two cars last weekend and made $400 dollars not bad some extra cash never hurts.

Car turned out great! I'm sure the customer was thrilled.

Price was good for you first customer. As you become more experienced you'll get a better idea for how long each job will take and how much to charge.

Our first few details I think we ended up making minimum wage or less after expenses.

Keep up the good work!
