I'm looking for something halfway between 105 and 205 that I can use as a 1 step then top with a sealant or wax. I've been using Meg's Cleaner Wax and Meg's D151. They both are giving me great defect removal, but the wax protection wears off too fast. I'm looking for something I can use on daily drivers as a good 1 step swirl remover with a pad like a hydrotech tangerine then top with something like Collinite 845 and be done.

It has to have more cut than 205, finish down good enough for the average person to be happy with it, and be a SMAT product. I also love how easy 205 and D151 are to work with. They have an oily or lotion-like feel, and I can work them as long as I want without them drying out, so I'd love to find a product that's as easy to use as these are.

Any ideas on a product that is close to fitting these requirements?

I would say meguiars ultimate compound, I found it to finish really nice even with the cyan hydro tech. Then I went straight to a LSP, never had a issue.

Optimum Polish II seems to be a match and have good reviews.

Menzerna PF 2500 is a great one stepper, but it is not a SMAT polish.

Optimum's hyper polish spray fits. I haven't used it but I will be buying in my next order along with the Optimum GPS AIO. Protection is reported to be good but if you wanted a fast durable topper for either, take look at Optimum Spray car Wax!

D300!! I've used it a few times with several different kinds of pads. Check out my writeups on the Cobra replica and the 2005 911 to read about it. D300 is also an amazing chrome cleaner! I used it to get boot marks off the pipes on that Harley I posted a few days ago.

It's an OTC product and therefore sometimes gets overlooked, but Ultimate Compound can be a fairly good one-stepper. Reasonable cut, usually finishes well, good working time. It isn't recommended for rotary use though.
