Ok, I want to do my headlights on our 98 van. I have Meg's plast-x, wolfgang lens sealant and uv protectant - (not exact names, 2 different lens products by wolfgang in addition to the mags, and a blue coral headlight restorer bottle).
by hand does not cut it well. minimal improvement only.
What can I use these items with on the pc to get a real improvement - spot buffs? What color?
Or do I have to order a whole kit when i have so many peices?
Please advise.
Thanks!
We want to see this van over the summer and the lens are aging it falsely.

I used some XMT3 on my fog lights just by hand and it cleared up pretty good. Have you thought of using some 3000 grit on them and than using a polish to smooth em back up. I would try some XMT 2 on there with maybe an orange pad and see what you can do. The only thing that would be tricky are the little aligning studs on the headlights might be a pain to move around......

I have the Same problem with my Serria 4X4 on my marker lights. Not condusive to use a convential pad(6", 4") . Would be extreamly tedious to do by hand. I am also looking for ideas. Intrested to hear the suggestions. Feed back please

How bad off are the lenses, Lauren? Are they completely opaque? Pics would be helpful. I really like using the spot buffs on the lenses for the control they give you in getting to all the areas of the lens. If you don't want to buy the entire kit, you can buy just the backing plate for $7.99 2-3/4 Hook & Loop Backing Plate (http://www.autogeek.net/2vebapl.html) and get the polishing pal which has all the pads for $29.99 Wolfgang Polishin’ Pal is an ergonomically shaped urethane handle that holds specially designed foam pads using hooks & loops. (http://www.autogeek.net/polishing-pal.html) It's 12 dollars cheaper than buying the WG lens restoration kit, but you don't get all the products so it would be your call. I think it's worth it though to get the pads. You can use your XMT polishes on the lenses. My polish choice would be determined by how badly caked the lenses are. Just my 2 cents. Good luck. :)

I have 4" pads but never used them on the headlights, don't think I would even if my headlights needed it. I have these man boob nipple things on them that will tear a pad apart if hit.

If you don't have nipples, try a cutting pad and light polish or even the Plastic-X which is a great product. I never used it before but last year when I had dual exhaust put on my truck, the shop was cleaning up a Jag in there and he showed me what Plastic-X and a terry cloth could do, I was pretty amazed as it took damn near mos tof the hazzing/cloudiness away. Imagine it would be pretty potent witha cutting pad.

Jenn's plan sounds the best, but a "Mothers Powerball" (fits on a drill) and plastic polish will make an improvement. Read about it on the forum.

Lauren...use plastic-X with a 4" spot pad....just a polishing pad works....if need to be finished better after the oxidation is gone use a white one to finish off with

you can also use AIO...XMT 1 or 2....pro polish...any lite swirl remover will clean it up...and a polish to finish it off...
