I've been using Meguiar's wheel cleaner for quite a long time and I've always been happy with the results. Maybe I'm going crazy (which is quite possible) but the last time I used it it really seemed to knock off the shine of the clear coat. Now I'm afraid to use it. Any one have an opinion on a better product? Feed back please

Are your wheels aluminum, chrome? Are you putting any product on after the wheel cleaner, such as a sealant or a wax? The reason I ask is that some people try to "polish" clear-coated wheels, which is maybe not such a good thing.

Clear-coated wheels should be treated just like the paint on your car. Same soap, same wax, sealant, etc.

Most of my customers have painted alloys. I just clean them normally. I'm concerned the wheel cleaner is either a bad batch or they changed it. As we all know (hopefully) wheel cleaners can only be left on for a few moments and in this case it still seemed to have effected the wheels in a bad way.

It helps big time if the wheels are sprayed with water and allowed to cool first. I A lot of cleaners will be hard to remove if allowed to bake on the surface.

I just tried Meg's new all wheel and tire cleaner today and loved it.

How many wheels did you try it on that it faded the shine ?

After I clean wheels with wheels cleaner and seal them with 845 I just use soap and water to clean them.

Repeated use of acidic wheel cleaners on the same wheels will eat away at the clear.

Try hitting them with some polish.

Are you using Meg's Wheel Brightner? If so, are you cutting it? It's an acid and can damage painted wheels.
