This is still a work in progress... I go back tomorrow morning to finish the job. So far we have about 4 hours into the job. The owner is an all around car guy. He was out with us the entire time just watching us polish out the paintwork and blasting classic rock in his garage. I love customers like this who truly appreciate the hard work that goes into this type of job and like to be a part of the process. Every once in a while he would pick up a MF and wipe off some compounding dust for me and then go back to his chair.

Products used:
Meguiar's Gold Class shampoo
2 bucket method with grit guards
Dewalt 849X rotary
Porter Cable 7424XP DA polisher
M105
M205
LC CCS 5.5" yellow pad
LC CCS 5.5" white pad
12% IPA

Products planned to use:
LC CCS 5.5" Red pad
Collinite 845 insulator wax

The car, as we received it, had a nice, thick coat of Turtle Wax on:

After 2 bucket method wash with Meg's Gold Class shampoo. This pic doesn't even show any of the swirls but you can see the nice, dull water spots that blanket the entire vehicle.:

I actually did 3 different test spots on the hood before I could get the right pad/polish combo perfected. Went from 205/white ccs, to 205/orange HT, to 105/orange HT, to 105/cyan HT, to 105/yellow ccs.

The paint was so swirled out the owner was originally considering just getting it repainted. Needless to say he is amazed with the results so far. Here is a 50/50 from the rear deck lid.

This is my 3rd time using my new 849X and I cannot tell you how much I LOVE this tool. Actually, this is my 3rd time EVER using a rotary and I felt a little tense at first... especially with the owner chilling out in the garage looking over my shoulder the entire time. I can pretty much say now that I am completely comfortable with it and can't imagine not having this tool in my detailing arsenal.

Stay tuned for more after pics! :buffing:

Nicholas, that Chevelle looks fantastic! Great to see you have gotten the hang of the rotary! Keep up the hard work!

The 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS7 would be my top pick for Chevrolet that year....:props:

I agree! He actually has some SS trim pieces that he was thinking of installing but I think this one just has a 396 instead of the 454. It still sounds like a beast though!
