Assuming one avoids temperature extremes, what's a reasonable shelf life for most of these (rather expensive) paste waxes?...

What happens when it goes out-of-date? do the ingredients separate? or does it just not work as well.

I have some M16 that I've had for a few years, good to go, and you already stated not to expose to extreme temps. Keep the can sealed and it'll last a long time.

Most can last a very very long time as long as they never hit temperature extremes. I have a tin of Mother's Pure nuba that is 15 years or so old and still works perfectly.

As long as paste wax isn't left open or routinely sees extreme temperature swings they'll last indefinitely...

more than several years indeed ...

The better waxes have a rubber gasket to keep the solvents from evaporating.

This is all good news, thanks...

I feel like a kid in a candy shop and want to try them all. :-)
